Then there's Mishima's 1971 Tokyo production which he timed to coincide with his coup/suicide because of the obvious parallels in the text e.g. Narroboth's death by seppuku and John the Baptist's decapitation.

@pruett_jordan@FreddySpringer The question "What do we do about our surplus male population" and its various answers is imo a central driver of politics and culture throughout history/across societies
there's always one of these little, "how dare you have honest, forthright communication with your friends about your needs or about any kind of collective behavior, generosity, shared struggle or general decency" going around on this app and has been for years.
For the thousandth time... these liberals trade in a politics of deception, just as most vanguardists, thinking they hold the key to the universe and the rest of us must be lied to, one way or another. https://t.co/unCFNKmEbw
We have a word for this in Dutch called "wedijver". The meaning of it is close to "competition" but there is a difference. Wedijver is the drive within you that makes you want to compete, to view everything in terms of ordinal rankings etc.
You just gotta treat different things differently in the way that is appropriate to their difference. When you start getting hung up on comparisons and ordinal rankings and competitions you lose sight of this and you do it badly.
You guys do fake negotiations with the mamdani that exists in your head for free busses like right wingers do those fake negotiations with the israel that exists in their head for mass deportations
