I think taste is an excuse here. I know it's hard feedback to hear, but I really think you can 10x the UI here.

It is not a "taste" issue when the app has some text smaller than 8px, not properly vertically aligned, and multiple unequal paddings across the UI.

The same visual gradient on every element might look appealing, but it competes for the user's attention.

You have clearly hit product market fit, so it's working (great job). I just believe the UI can take another full leap forward.
