Today we have announced €107 million in support from the @EU_Commission and United States Government. We are deeply grateful for their unwavering support, and the leadership of the Ministry of Energy in delivering this vital aid. No country in modern times has faced such an onslaught against its energy system, but with the help of our partners, we continue to stand strong against russia’s energy terror.
This support is an acknowledgment of @dtek_group systemically important role in keeping Ukraine powered and our rapid efforts to restore thousands of megawatts of electricity.

⚡ DTEK restores power to 860,000 homes in September.
Despite ongoing attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, DTEK's workers restored electricity to 860,000 families in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Odesa regions last month.
Our teams work tirelessly after each attack to repair grids in the most challenging of conditions. In over two years of full-scale war, we've restored power to 15 million families across Ukraine.
DTEK remains committed to powering Ukraine, ensuring electricity for homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure.

This is my colleague Oleg. A second-generation energy worker, he was at a @dtek_group thermal power plant earlier this year when russian missiles smashed through the roof and caused devastation. Yesterday, he travelled to Brussels to share his story and help launch a new photo exhibition, Fight For Light, which reveals the reality of war on Ukraine’s energy frontline.
The world needs to see these images; they are a warning. These aren’t photos taken last century, or even last decade. They show a modern European nation. In 2024.
It feels appropriate that the exhibition is being staged in front of the @Europarl_EN. The EU has been a staunch partner of Ukraine and Ukraine’s energy system since the full-scale invasion began. Thank you to friends, partners and supporters who came last night, including Ambassador @VVChentsov, Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community, MEP @PToveri, Chair, Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee and MEP @poznaks, Member, Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee.
Your support gives me, Oleg and thousands more energy workers the confidence that russia will not switch off our country. We will get through this.
I know that one day soon DTEK will return with a new exhibition: one showing photographs of the wind turbines we are building today, with images of our beautiful country, smiling faces and Ukrainians celebrating victory.
The exhibition is open until Friday at The Ukraine Civil Society Hub in the EU @PromoteUkraine, Gare Europe, Place du Luxembourg, Brussels.

In an important article this week, The Economist takes readers right inside a @dtek_group power station hit by russian missiles: "walls charred by a fire that that burnt for over 24 hours, windows blown out, roof collapsed, machinery wrecked, pipes and ducts broken; everywhere a mess of rubble, twisted metal support struts, flayed steel cables, wire."
The Economist rightly points out that to support Ukraine this winter the focus of Ukraine's allies must now be to:
➡ Increase electricity imports from Europe
➡ Help repair existing power stations (as a the quickest and cheapest solution before winter)
➡ Support Ukraine's switch to resilient renewables over the medium term.
Thank you @TheEconomist for giving us the opportunity to contribute to this story.

Encouraging news from the NATO summit overnight: more air defence systems are heading to Ukraine. For the past four months, russia has rained down missiles on our power stations, destroying half the country’s energy system.
As I told @JustinOnWeb on this morning’s Today programme, air defence is critical to ending this cycle of destruction. So too is the massive task of rebuilding of our power stations before winter and expanding Europe’s electricity imports to the country. Thank you to everyone who stands with us in our #FightForLight.

Kyiv is in mourning today after russia’s criminal attack on Ukraine’s largest children’s hospital, Okhmatdyt. On news of the attack, DTEK immediately deployed teams to the site. They are installing three temporary substations to power the urgent rescue and recovery operation, and to help treat child patients.
Juriy was one of those workers doing everything possible to restore light and power at #Okhmatdyt.

There is another frontline in the war in #Ukraine.
Between #energy workers who heat homes and light streets and russian #missiles that destroy power stations and bring only darkness.
After relentless russian attacks in the last two months, Ukraine's energy workers face a race against time. They need the world's help to protect our skies and find equipment to restore the energy system, before winter arrives.

Our new @dtek_group Advisory Council, which met for the first time last month, is made up of leading experts from business, economics, sustainability and policymaking: @anders_aslund, Victoria Cochrane, @PascalLAMYPPF, Miriam Maes, @AmbTrombetta and Axel Theis.
This group of highly experienced professionals will help rally global support for Ukraine’s energy sector after russia’s devastating recent attacks, guide our #EnergyTransition, strengthen our #governance and build vital partnerships as we transform into a pan-European energy group with world-class corporate standards. With this Council, DTEK will have access to world-leading experts across disciplines. I look forward to them advising our executive team to both improve what we do, and how we do it, so DTEK can meet the very highest corporate governance standards.

This used to be the control room of a fully functioning @dtek_group power station, supplying energy to Ukrainian homes, businesses, hospitals and schools. Today I saw up close how russia has reduced it to ashes: a truly terrible level of damage from missiles and drones against a purely civilian facility.
The enemy’s actions surely constitute a war crime. It is only thanks to strong safety protocols and protections inside the control room that no one was killed or injured.
I talked with dozens of DTEK workers at the plant who have shown enormous courage under fire.
My message to them, Ukraine and the world is that the job of rebuilding starts today. We need urgent help from allies and partners in this mission: in terms of energy equipment, investment to build a more resilient system and through political support for more weaponry and air defences to stop attacks against Ukraine’s energy sector.

Raffaele Trombetta says, ''Differences could emerge also regarding Russia; in this respect, this year’s elections for the European Parliament and in the US will be a significant test of the G7 resolution towards Moscow.''.

A great honour to be named Freeman of the City of London. An old tradition going back to 1237. As of today I’m the “youngest” Freeman. Let’s see how long that lasts…@cityoflondon@ItalyinUK
