PEACEFUL citizens of country of Southern Cameroons, seek to regain our SOVEREIGNTY that la Republique du cameroUn violates by MANIPULATION of terms of "UNION"

OK - I admit I have never heard this song before about Ambazonian's quest for justice and freedom, but I really found it inspiring and sharing in case other Southern Cameroonians haven't yet heard it. African music rules!

The Friends of Ambazonia @FrofAmbazonia is doing exactly what's needed to advance the people's cause - informing and educating Washington policymakers about the history of abuse and injustice by Cameroon. My interview with them on @ASRTV_AMBAZONIA

So Cameroon's Prez Biya is getting a Vice President-the first since 1972. How wise is taking the position since the VP would be the designated successor to the 92 year old Prez. S/he would wear a huge target for the sharks circling and waiting for the end

The United States congratulates President Paul Biya on his inauguration. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Cameroon to advance shared goals such as regional peace and security and prosperity for both our peoples.
Very disappointed to see US Embassy Yaoundé send congratulations to Cameroon Govt. Of course, reading between the lines I note the congratulations to Biya was on his inauguration not "election." I can't imagine anyone calling it an election! A joke!

This is a pathetic statement and, I hope, not entirely demoralizing for the people in #Cameroon who are both yearning for a better future and know the real results of the election (notice how they don't mention that pesky election). Congratulating dictators = not a good look.
@USEmbYaounde I’m sorry to see this but understand. It was a sham election but the U.S. has to work with the Govt. Wish we would take a different path - if we claim to support democracy!
The corrupt Biya regime in Cameroon hunts its political opponents, enables Wagner’s illicit activities, and has created conditions for jihadist groups like Boko Haram and ISIS to thrive and fuel the Anglophone crisis. The regime has staged a sham re-election, and unlawfully detained Americans citizens, including those from Idaho. Cameroon is not a U.S. partner, and poses economic and security risks to the American people. It’s time to reassess this relationship before the blowback gets worse.
I think we need to stop calling sham tragicomedies like what happened in Cameroon, Tanzania, and sadly Ivory Coast "elections"! Anyone have a good word which could describe such theater which happens purely to check a box to keep getting international aid?
Re Cameroon - I guess the Biya regime has run this script so many times it's second nature to them. Make sure Biya is declared "winner" by handpicked election commission; intimidate and arrest opposition figures who protest; wait out public outrage; start over. Eight times now!
LET THEM VOTE! When you can’t vote with your hands, You Vote with Your Feet!
As of 2024, there are over 683,000 Eritrean refugees and asylum seekers globally. Around 180,000 are in Ethiopia, over 150,000 are in Sudan and over 70,000 are in Germany according to the UNHCR.
For those wondering why US Govt hasn't commented on recent elections-recall that White House declared some months back that US will stop commenting on foreign elections. This does not mean that US won't take some other action, but fact is - statements never achieved much.
So what happened in Cameroon was tragically exactly what I’ve feared and stated over the last many months. I guess the Biya clique is already planning for him to run again at age 99 - and no doubt the election commission will declare him the winner! Results already known!
What is one to think when Cameroon Prez Biya's own daughter is urging people to not vote for her father. In an honest election such an announcement might matter, but we all know how Cameroon's "election" will go. The clown show goes on!

Where could a presidential candidate leave just before the vote-Cameroon, of course. It would be unimaginable in a real election, but Cameroon’s is not. Since the outcome is pre-determined and the opposition is divided, Biya’s absence makes no difference! https://t.co/7R7EJWhIwM
