Children learn more from what we do than what we say. This week they witnessed democracy in action. Now it’s up to us, the adults, to model reconciliation, unity, and peace. We can do this for our children and our country. God Bless America! #valuefamilies#givethanksforfreedom
I don’t think teachers will be remembered primarily for their lessons. I think they will be remembered for their energy... and their attitude... and their relationships.
Lessons are important... but they don’t tell the entire story. The legacy of a teacher is more than that.
Parent conference participation increased a ton in the virtual space. In some cases, 300%+.
Maybe our definition of “parental involvement” should have less to do with assuming parents don’t care and more to do with making engagement more convenient for families.
They do care.
Parent Action for Healthy Kids knows about the heart & hard work parents, educators, and families go through. If we practice vulnerability, we can lead with warmth and make our way into the hearts of families.

Social media can be good when it connects us, teaches us, challenges us, inspires us.... when it provides a safe space. But when it adds stress to our lives, we should have the courage to get off. The real world is better anyway.
I want to make this clear — I will not send our kids and our education workforce into our schools unless it is safe to do so, plain and simple. I have made decisions based on science and facts to keep Michiganders safe since the beginning, and won’t stop now.
The apt response in many education discussions, I've argued, is, "Wait, you skipped a step...": https://t.co/g4dug0cTTy.
It's true elsewhere, too. E.g.:
"Parents need schls to reopen so they can work!"
"Wait, what kind of society leaves us to depend on schls for child care?"
This holiday weekend, let’s be safe and smart. It’s going to take all of us to beat this virus. So wear a mask. Wash your hands. And listen to the experts, not the folks trying to divide us. That's the only way we’ll do this—together.
