Since Opus 4.8 is out and more and more designers are getting into Design Engineering, I thought I’d share some of the interaction patterns I use most often:
Use proximity, not just hover. When the cursor gets close, nearby elements can subtly scale and darken based on distance.
It makes interfaces feel more responsive, less binary, and way more alive
onpointermove = e =>
document.querySelectorAll(".dock>*").forEach(el => {
const r = el.getBoundingClientRect();
const t = Math.max(0, 1 - Math.abs(e.clientX - r.x - r.width/2) / 120);
el. style.scale = 1 + t * .5;
});
In the UK we *massively* undertax wealth compared to income. In past 10 years income has been taxed at average of 32%, compared to just 4% for wealth. Time for ultra-rich to start paying more - to fund public services and not let them crumble. @PatMillsUK
The Tories are attacking the rights of protest while sticking two fingers up to Commons democracy.
They lost in the Commons so they revert to a statutory instrument.
Starmer’s Labour know this & should be supporting @GreenJennyJones motion to stop this in the Lords. Shameful.
If Labour abstain on @GreenJennyJones Lords motion to protect the rights of protest, they are in reality supporting the Tories & attacking civil liberties.
It will represent the final move of a party born of workers to being a party of establishment.

Imagine a society where health, water, rail, mail and energy are run not for profit, but for people. Where the money you pay is invested in better services, not paid to billionaire profiteers.
Jeremy Corbyn imagined. He committed to nationalising them all in 2017. He was right.
British Petrol have just reported £23 billion profits for 2022. The highest profits in the history of BP.
You used to own British Petrol. It was yours. The government privatised it.
Renationalise now! Cut bills. Scrap Ofgem.
Shell profits to double to £30bn as people grapple with sky-high energy bills.
Cost of producing oil/gas hasn't changed much, selling price has. It fuels inflation.
Shell doesn't like paying tax.
Govt imposing wage cuts, no curbs on profiteering.

No one should be seeking to make a profit within a public healthcare system. It introduces a new consideration within the planning and/ or running of healthcare services.
A public healthcare system should have one central goal; the provision of excellent care to patients.
Energy truths:-
• Shell & BP did not pay corporation tax on North Sea oil & gas from 2018-20
• They paid shareholders £44bn+ from 2018-20
• The worlds seven biggest oil & gas giants made over £150bn in 9 months last year
• 1 person dies every 52 mins due to a cold home
UK Shell Oil announced a doubling of their profits in October ‘22. £8bn profits in just 13 weeks. A profit rate of £3.6 million every hour.
Today we hear Shell will pay tax in the UK for the first time in five (5!) years.
We are being ripped off.
