ANC 7F Commissioner Betty Diggs transitioned last night. She was a good friend, a supporter and a fierce champion for her community. Condolences and prayers to her family and daughter Zewdi Alem. The Ward 7 community will miss her. @VinceGrayWard7@Ward7Democrats@Wendell_Felder
My son, A. I. L. the III'rd, made the honor roll and received an award for exhibiting great "character." I am a PROUD daddy. Nothing else in life compares!
“As Mayor I will give up any amount of control that will lead to better outcomes for our students… the Mayor is consumed by the idea of mayoral control, we need a mayor who is focused on mayoral accountability.”
Homelessness and the chronically unhoused can be SOLVED with love, compassion, action and investment. DC has a $19.5 Billion dollar budget with NO solutions for poverty, homelessness, income inequality, chronic disease, etc. The "Community First Village: https://t.co/lPmMcaU9WN
A 19.5 BILLION DOLLAR BUDGET!!?? Still no end to poverty, no end to homelessness, rapid rehousing insolvent, NO Universal Basic Income for seniors and others, no investment in 13,000 health jobs needed, but we got more housing production money for those that can't afford it!! Ha!
After the @Ward7Democrats AG debate, I am endorsing @kenyanmcduffie@CM_McDuffie for DC Attorney General. While you certainly need courtroom experience, you also need a deep understanding and empathy for community issues. Kenyan McDuffie has that head and shoulders above the rest
The Washington Post article on Opioids: https://t.co/RZWgt1AFIT highlights the Sackler family's culpability in causing death to hundreds of thousands of families each year. In DC opioid deaths are DOUBLE the # of homicides. I am working with stakeholders and ANC's on solutions.
Invited to Mayor's Friday groundbreaking at Kenilworth 166. Can't be there, I'm hosting a meeting on opioids. But...48 "affordable" units @50% AMI? Most of Ward7 or 8 can't even afford THAT! Family incomes have only risen 10% (W7) and 12% (W8) in last 20 YEARS! Ward 6 & 2- 325%!
@AmbroseLaneJr You were outstanding at The Village discussion last night! You know your stuff and I love your platform! Visit Ambrose’s website! We need you on the council! #Health#antipoverty@KeepDC4Me
Let's be clear! No Senior Hungry is the right kind of legislation. Seniors are not alone. Kicking the can down the road leaves out THOUSANDS of blk and brn families that also suffer from hunger. My "Zero Hunger" legislation (1st 100 days!) can end all DC hunger. #TransformDC
On Capitol Hill talking about the health disparities inDC. Presented at the Capitol Hill Village last night. We have to deal with these inequities head-on, not small pieces --housing, health, poverty and income, business and equitable development and education. #TransformDC
Testified today about opioids and the need for a healthcare workforce for Ward 7 & 8 residents. There will be 13,000 healthcare jobs needed over the next 5 years--in long term care, home health aides and certified nursing assistants. Apprenticeships can start in high school.
