@WashInformer Hilarious. These CMO are corporatists and no amount of money is enough for them. They are lobbying for equity for the smaller Black founded LEAs and they know it. That is not the conversation they want to have.
@RobertWhite_DC We understood your point. Just everything we think, we cannot post. But hypocrisy about who gets to be where, when is deeply concerning because right now we are strongly considering criminalizing Black youth existence.
@kenyanmcduffie If only you would have come to the Coalition for DC Public Schools and Communities Education Forum for Candidates to engage in a conversation. We still invite you to our May General Body Meeting for 26 for 26. Let’s take a deep dive on your plan.
@Stamper4DC@councilofdc@ChmnMendelson@CMWendellFelder The Mayor & Council. When schools are well resourced then great things happen. That means well resourced academically and behaviorally. SROs are short cuts. Principal ask for them only because they know they can get SROs more easily than the resources they need.
@DoniCrawford knows that curfews are ineffective and they criminalize kids of color. You can’t comprise when it comes to our children. We love our children, we don’t lock them up.
NEWS: A source tells me that @MayorBowser and @DoniCrawford have come to an agreement on changes to the teen curfew zones bill that could secure the 9 votes needed to extend the zones over the summer. Bowser will cover costs of expanded DPR programming, as Crawford requested.
@EJGoulet@ScottGoldstein@Stamper4DC@DCPoliceUnion School police should protect the school from outsiders that seek to cause it harm. With very few exceptions, schools should be able to handle their own internal matters. So resource the schools well and get out of the way.
Working class Black and Brown women can’t continue to serve as the mules of the earth while others live lives of abundance. We call on our @CMWendellFelder to stand up for women of color and not fall in line with the Mayor on every issue.
We did NOT receive questionnaires from @kenyanmcduffie, Kathy Henderson, Jose Font, Regan Jones, Melodie Shuler , Stanley Lawson and Hope Solomon and @VincentOrangeDC, but Vincent Orange did attend our forum. You can see the full forum video here: https://t.co/OGwVvQCq3W
🚨 Today we're releasing our DC mayoral candidate questionnaires on public education conducted w/ Coalition for DC Public Schools & Communities. We'll highlight some responses below. First- their top 4 funding priorities from our list. Full questionnaires are here: https://t.co/f3tJG12EOU @maustermuhle@tomsherwood@SegravesNBC4@AlexKomaDC@jennygathright@SamPKCollins@wusa9
If you understand child care, you know this will have an adverse impact on the DC economy in higher unemployment, loss productivity and higher worker absenteeism.
NEWS: D.C. says that starting on May 12 it will implement a wait list for the child care subsidy program, which currently helps 7,500 kids from low-income families pay for child care. City officials say without it, enrollment growth will blow the program's $96 million budget.
A full house here in Ward 7 for a mayoral education forum. The spiciest question, as ever, is on mayoral control: @Janeese4DC says she’s for reforms (like an independent OSSE) while @goodweather4dc says he’d be willing to “give up” control of schools. No clear answer from VO.
