Very saddened to hear of the passing of the generous and large hearted Qamar Ahmad or Q, as we inevitably called him. He helped me a lot on my first tour of England in 1990 where I was a wide-eyed novice on most matters. And I won't forget his emotionally told story of going back to the family village in India, while on tour with Pakistan, where he was warmly received with stories of his father. Always greeted me with a hearty laugh. I have only warm memories of Q and I will be surprised if anyone else has any other. Khuda Hafiz Q Bhai. Salaam.

اس اوورسیز پاکستانی نے کیپیٹل سمارٹ سٹی میں چھے سال پہلے پلاٹ خریدا ،رقم بھی ساری ادا کر دی۔الاٹمنٹ بھی مل گئی مگر قبضہ لینے گیا تو بتایا گیا کہ اب یہ پلاٹ دستیاب نہیں آپکو تین سال بعد نئی زمین خریدنے کے بعد پلاٹ مل گا پیسے واپس مانگے وہ بھی صاف انکار کر دیا اور جواب تھا جو کرنا کر لو۔پاکستان سٹیزن پورٹل پر شکایت کی۔جواب ملا ریلیف نہیں دے سکتے عدالت سے رجوع کریں ۔یہ حال ہے بیوروکریسی کا اوورسیز کے ساتھ۔

میرے بیٹے بیرسٹر حسان خان نیازی کو دس سال قیدِ بامشقت کی جو سزا سنائی گئی ہے وہ مجموعی طور پر 3653 دن بنتی ہے، جو 13 اگست 2033 تک یا موجودہ مقتدرہ کی مدتِ اقتدار کے خاتمے تک، جو بھی تاریخ بھی پہلے آئے، پوری ہوگی۔ آج حسان کی قید کے ایک ہزار دن مکمل ہو چکے ہیں۔ اگر ان ایک ہزار دنوں کو کل مدت سے منہا کیا جائے تو باقی 2653 دن کی قید ابھی باقی ہے۔ زندگی کے اس موڑ پر اور عمر کے اس حصے میں اگر میں زندہ رہا اور حسان اپنی قید مکمل کرتا رہا تو اس وقت تک میں عمر کے اس مرحلے تک پہنچ چکا ہوں گا جہاں وقت اپنی معنویت بدل چکا ہوگا اور یہ پورا سفر میرے لئیے میری آزمائش نہیں بلکہ آئین یا قانون یا عدالتی نظام بلکہ مملکت کی ایک طویل آزمائش کی صورت اختیار کر چکا ہوگا۔

Mr Amir Sohail former cricketer, chief selector and commentator choosing to mock Karachi city on air during a Khi vs Lhr PSL match being watched globally is disappointing, to say the least.

Right after a positive PCB package celebrating both cities, he chose to bring up “pan spits in Karachi and saying they symbolise Khi city” a tired and insulting stereotype. Completely unnecessary and in poor taste.

Karachi is Pakistan’s largest city and economic backbone. It deserves respect, not ridicule especially from those meant to represent the country on the world stage.
