Hello to the #WritingCommunity of Twitter. I would like to introduce myself as Amelia Rowe and would like to say thank you for being so amazing! Looking for more fantastic authors and writers to follow!
@JorDee He/She makes a mistake (which he/she was warned about) and now has to deal with consequences. Learning a lesson to THINK before acting. F*** shit up and let your character deal with it
@authoraprillea @MargieLawson I have a love/hate relationship with editing. It's har work, but so satisfying to read back the edited manuscript and realize it's not THAT bad afterall
@emiller1writer No matter how hard it gets just keep pushing. Writing a book is a Marathon not a sprint. You can do it. You just need to put your mind to it! One. Step. At. A. Time.
My current editing notes consist of me purely writing "WTF was I thinking? WTF do you mean here? WTF does this have to do with anything in this story?" #WritingCommuntiy#amediting
@ljthomasbooks Sci-fi is different than most YA in that you have very limited time to explain your setting, but dragging it out without being woven into the story could also crush your storyline. Besides, your future editor will tell you to trim it down if you go over 120k.Don't stress too much
@ljthomasbooks But if you get the point across, your writing isn't boring, events are unfolding at an increasing pace, then you should be okay. As a reader, I'd rather read a tight 90k novel than a 150k fluffed novel personally.
@ljthomasbooks 115k is not a lot for a sci-fi, although any story can benefit from trimming. I don't think more than 10k trimming is needed, if that. It also depends on writing style, the story and themes. If you beat around the bush for 2 chapters, obviously refine your work 1/2
Rereading my #WIP and all of a sudden I don't think that dialogue in The Room (2003) is so much better than mine. Ah, the lovely days of editing! #writing#amediting#writerscommunity
@RCopleyHirst I've used beta and they were helpful to an extent. Most were overcritical of little details rather than looking at the bigger picture. After finding the beta whom I trusted though, my story changed for the better. You gotta find the one, thoug
Some needed break is over. I am back to writing and editing my book. Hoping to finish it by August. Oh, I love having actual plans when working on a project #writing#WritingComminuty#AuthorLife
@p1013@ChuckWendig For whatever reason I am not following him even though I swear I've retweeted a few of his tweets. Checking out his blog. Thank you for the tip!
@MatthewGJason I did 4 different drafts and still felt that it wasn't good enough. That's when I knew I need to move on. I'd rather work on something else and come back to it when and if I feel I can tackle the premise with more mature eyes.
I decided that my first novel wasn't good enough, so I moved on to my next #WIP. I am grateful with a learning opportunity my first #WIP provided me, but it's time to move on. Anyone else's first chapter is shoved far away in a drawer? #WritingCommunity
