@WheelieInvestor The year you make a down payment on a house looks like you lost a bunch of money on paper. A few years later in a hot real estate market you are flying high.
People don’t know how to evaluate an investment anymore. Everyone just wants a quick buck.
@b_co_co I’m 48 and bought with cash.
I was born into a broke family. My “boomer” father averaged about $9k year income through my childhood.
It’s easy to blame “boomers” but reality is some people are just good at making money and most people really, really suck at it.
@daviexbt My dude, I was doing this in 2004… Rented a sweet top floor loft. Downtown Knoxville. Salary was $36,000/yr.
Also had a new car. Ate very well. Enjoyed nightlife several times a week.
I think my rent was like $640.
It’s possible now at 2x both salary and expenses.
@LTD39292141@murphy_thom@jonbrooks I want to work remote. From a $250k 3bed/2bath condo. On Santa Monica Beach. With a 3% mortgage.
Boomers took that opportunity away from me, I guess?
lol
@senatejr My “boomer” parents told not to leverage debt for a degree unless it was really necessary for me to get a job.
It wasn’t.
Had a great life with a six figure income for over 25 years. All I had to do was make things people want.
College is a product. Not a key to a career.
@senatejr Yeah - that’s the kind of sht you gotta pay in chunks like 1-2k/mo - plus your bonuses and stock and other windfall from work, etc, until it is paid. And if your job doesn’t pay that much or you have no job - why the F did you leverage debt for a degree to get a high paying job?
