Today, I'm calling elected officials to ask them to help stop Sister Letty's deportation. She was detained by ICE while on her way to Mass, dressed in her nun's habit and preparing to serve her community. I'm asking our elected leaders to take action.
This is quite a response to data showing that number of children receiving food assistance has plummeted since the deepest SNAP cuts in history were signed into law last summer.

@FBIDirectorKash@nicksortor@FBI Maybe you meant "lock you up"? Or "take you down"? "Put you down" means either you're going to say mean things about them or euthanize them. #pendejo
This was written by my FB friend #VictoriaScarbrough:
For my friend Andy:
@TomSteyer has never held public office. Not once. Not ever. Not a city council seat. Not a school board. Not even a spot on a water district board in Fresno. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
And this man wants to run the fourth-largest economy on the planet. Let's talk about what running a business actually requires. Ready? One decision. Just one:
Will I make money or not?
That's it. That's the whole job. Every hire, every deal, every offshore maneuver — it all flows from that single, gloriously uncomplicated question.
There's no messy legislature to negotiate with. No constituents sleeping on the street who won't just go away. No wildfire victims demanding answers at 2 a.m. Just: does this make me or shareholders richer?
Now let's talk about HOW he got rich — because this part matters.
Billionaires don't happen by accident. They happen on the backs of working people. While @TomSteyer's employees @FarallonCapital were earning base salaries of $93,000 to $110,000, @TomSteyer himself collected $1.2 billion between 2009 and 2017.
Not in wages. Not in salary. He paid himself zero in traditional compensation. His haul came from capital gains, carried interest, and passive investment income — the classic billionaire move that lets you accumulate obscene wealth while paying a lower tax rate than his own receptionist.
In 2024 alone, he reported $39 million in personal income from investments. While touring California talking about shared prosperity.
Let that image sink in: the man campaigning on his "Shared Prosperity Tour" structured his entire financial life to avoid sharing prosperity with the government or the workers who made him rich.
And that fortune was built at a hedge fund that invested in private prisons and fossil fuels. Becoming a billionaire in that world doesn't happen without leaving a trail — tax havens, aggressive structuring, decades of engineering ways to pay less into the very government he now desperately wants to lead.
Governing 40 million people is something else entirely. In business, you answer to shareholders. In government, you answer to the single mom in Bakersfield, the farmworker in Salinas, the teacher in Compton. Those people don't have a board seat — but they have a vote.
In business, failure has a bottom line. In government, failure has a human one. @TomSteyer has only ever been accountable to one.
And when he hits a wall on the campaign trail? Same playbook: write a check.
He's paid over $870,000 to a single digital media agency to flood your feed with daily pro-Steyer content — some influencers didn't even disclose they were paid, triggering a formal state investigation with the FPPC.
The man who wants to hold corporations accountable is currently under investigation for buying fake grassroots support on TikTok.
You genuinely cannot make this up.
He's spent $213+ million — almost entirely his own money — and he's still stuck in a tight race. Turns out Californians aren't an audience to be purchased. I LOVE my fellow Californians!
@XavierBecerra has spent decades doing the actual work — writing laws, enforcing them, defending them in court, running massive public institutions. He didn't buy his way into public life. He earned it — the hard, unglamorous way.
This is a man who has been making hard calls in public life since before @TomSteyer figured out how to write off his yacht.
California doesn't need a donor who just discovered public service is important. It needs someone who has devoted his entire life to it.
It needs someone who has never once confused public service with a profit motive.
VOTE @XavierBecerra NOW!

Tom Steyer is selling himself as a grassroots anti-billionaire, but his campaign history says otherwise.
- Undisclosed paid influencers.
- An aide accused of offering money for endorsements.
- Another aide accessed Kamala Harris campaign data without authorization.
- A Steyer-funded PAC fined for disclosure violations.
To a billionaire, the fines are couch-cushion money.
That’s not "people powered".
That’s billionaire funded astroturf that thinks the rules don't apply to them.
@RonFilipkowski Bill Cassidy's legacy will continue to negatively impact our country & the world for decades through the utterly destructive crank he is most responsible for confirming at @HHSGov. As a doctor, he knew so much better.
Wondering why LA streets can feel so bad? Probably because there's no one in charge.
Tomorrow you can tell the LA City Council to fix this: https://t.co/GiUSf9l32G
🚨NEW: We are standing up to protect the 3M+ ballots cast in Virginia’s ballot referendum. At no moment in American democracy have we allowed millions of ballots from a statewide election to simply be rendered null and void. @naacp@adv_project
Looking forward to moderating with @NikkiLaurenzo what @politico calls “the first must see TV moment” of this topsy-turvy governor’s contest.” Join us at 7pm tonight.

On Earth Day, it’s about results: cleaner air, safer water, and healthier communities.
As Attorney General, I strengthened environmental protections, held polluters accountable, including Big Oil, and delivered for California families.
🧵This poll confirms the social media surge for @XavierBecerra : after Swalwell imploded, voters are looking for a candidate wirh integrity and experience, and that is Xavier Becerra! We need him in the @KTLA debate next week to make sure Dems aren't locked out in November!
Yes! @XavierBecerra will join the televised #CaliforniaGovernor debate Weds. Apr. 22nd at 7pm. Let people know so they can tune in & hear from the most experienced candidate in the race: 24 yrs in U.S. House, CA Atty General, HHS Secretary.
Reuters: Two more Democrats qualify for California debate stage after Swalwell exits
Two more Democrats, former California attorney general and cabinet secretary Xavier Becerra and San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan, cleared the polling threshold and will join next week's debate in the state's gubernatorial primary campaign after Eric Swalwell, accused of sexual assault, dropped out of the race, organizers said on Thursday.
Televised debate set for April 22.

“Our signs aren’t big enough to list all the reasons we’re here."
You can say that again! Theocratic fascism is a major threat to our democracy and a good reason to hit the streets this #NoKingsDay.
