Head of Politics @GreenpeaceUK Views my own.
“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” 🌎
@simondale11 I believe most would be happy to pay their fair share, but they must also get fair payment for their produce. Farage and the Tories should be very unwelcome at these protests, they are to blame for the pain farmers are in. IHT is a red herring
As a proud Cumbrian, I grew up spending all my holidays on the farm- lambing, baling, whatever needed doing. Today's protests are a sign that farmers are at breaking point, previous govts have allowed them to be exploited by supermarkets & imports. Labour must turn this around.
OEUK says "Time is running out to mitigate damage that has already been done and to avoid further escalation".
Indeed. To the planet.
Industry lobbying hard against fair tax & workers rights.
Govt is right to focus on growth from RE + good jobs for workers

In 2024, "centrism" isn't cautious, it's reckless. It creates the conditions under which the radical racist right is surging.
Fight the far right by redistributing ill-gotten gains of pandemic profiteers + polluters to pay for Green New Deal-style programs. That's pragmatic.

Absolutely right from @Taj_Ali1 - The only way to fix the ever growing list of crises in this country is to INVEST in our country... Labour's £28bn is their plan to kickstart that - any roll-back would be tragically cynical and a huge dereliction of duty.
"I think its fiscally irresponsible not to invest in these policies"
@Taj_Ali1 on Labour rolling back from the promise to spend £28bn/yr on their green prosperity plan.
NEW Substack from me: can Labour weather growing Conservative attacks on its £28bn green investment plans?
Some evidence for why I think it probably can, if it plays its cards right.

The Director of the UN's New York office just resigned after thirty years at the organisation over the UN's handling of the ongoing genocide of Palestinians.
The entirety of his resignation letter is a necessary read but this first page blew me away.
Listen up @UKLabour ...Voters want a vision for a better future- a greener, fairer future. The policies offered so far are good, (a lot of room for improvement) but any watering down or backsliding will cost you.
That popularity of Labour's green policies means there are real dangers to watering them down further with an election determining chunk of Labour voters saying that they would consider (33%), or definitely switch to another party (7%) if Labour watered down its climate plans.
Govt approving Rosebank makes very clear - they dont care about you.
You will foot the bill for development (£3.75bn) + will be trapped paying expensive energy bills.
Dont let them tell you net zero will cost you money while they're robbing us all for FF.
🚨 BREAKING: The UK government has just approved Rosebank, the biggest undeveloped oil field in the UK. We won’t let this stand.
Together we will #StopRosebank https://t.co/LSytFaA4yq
Today we begin our JR against the govt for licensing more oil.
Win or lose, the writing is on’t wall - whether it’s enormous energy bills, spiking food prices or being evacuated from your European holiday - FF are harming us all. It’s time govt stopped throwing fuel on the fire.
News headlines tonight: devastating extreme weather in Europe and India, followed by reports about how both Labour and Tories are considering rowing back on critical climate policies.
It couldn’t feel more dystopian.
Absolutely absurd. Seriously, what is going on in Whitehall?! This coming a day after @UKLabour set out their plans to make the U.K. a clean energy superpower… the line in the sand is pretty clear at this point.
