@Helen_Atchison@alanlawlor@ProfBrianCox@Bazil001 We should also make a distinction between unexplained phenomena and potential explanations. Alien Theory fits practically everything and so does magic. But that should not be reason to bundle all phenomena together and seek to have a one size fits all reasoning
@Dublinate@ProfBrianCox@Bazil001@Helen_Atchison Decades ago one of my professors in electrical science mentioned a theory that certain whether conditions can lead to fast moving orbs of plasma. There was no inference to extraterrestrials. But again that is just a theory. Points is to not dismiss observations willy nilly.
@ProfBrianCox@Bazil001@Helen_Atchison That is not a good question. By definition you will notice less things landing on sea. The question is what are they. Extraterrestrial origin is just one of many theories, but we should not avoid investigating them just became ONE of the theories sounds crazy.
Somehow @lbc is more impartial than the @bbc because it openly hosts a wide variety of views - left and right. It lets listeners make their minds up by letting presenters be open about their personal views than impose artificial ‘impartiality’ through management’s own lens.
Just to be even clearer (as some have misinterpreted my tweet). No, I do mot believe GL’s tweet reflected negatively on the BBC.
The BBC’s response to it did though.
After a surreal few days, I’m delighted that we have navigated a way through this. I want to thank you all for the incredible support, particularly my colleagues at BBC Sport, for the remarkable show of solidarity. Football is a team game but their backing was overwhelming. 1/4
Many have remarked on the seeming contradiction between Lord Sugar’s continuing role as Apprentice host and Lineker’s suspension, despite Sugar’s public attacks on Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour between 2017-19. For what it’s worth, the BBC regards Lineker as somehow “representing” it…
@LBC Adam, you are mixing ‘nations’ with ‘countries’. Scotland is a different nation and a nation could choose to become independent…for worse or better… if not ‘nation’, then ‘region’… same argument…
LOL Let’s break something that is not perfect, at great cost (using lies, deception and empty promises), just so we know who’s responsible for fixing things. Of course fixing it is not the problem of those who helped break it…
An advantage of Brexit is now it's clear who has responsibility for fixing it, our democratically elected MPs.
If they don't fix it, & we continue with broken system & without a serious emergency system, it's a data point for 'Brexit hasn't worked as intended'
If it improves...
@forbes Peter Lyon Toyota article- I argue the solution to Toyota’s 28k EV cars p.a. (v.s. 1.5m hybrids) is not to be incentivised to sell more hybrids. Tesla, VW, Nissan,GM, etc have invested to make millions of EVs. Toyota’s lack of early investment should not be rewarded.
@ValaAfshar High tech brings high risks to manage. This watehouse was nearly completely detroyed in 2019 due to fire in a robo charging unit. Another ultra modern warehouse belonging to the same firm (Ocado) caught fire last week after a 3-robo crash. We can only learn and improve though.
@Clubhouse@lindsayagraham Apple is certainly still a great company with a vision and purpose that has not changed much since Steve Jobs times. However it is now a lot more conservative. And perhaps far less nimble than before.
@jimalkhalili And given that we know CVT is predominately a younger gen issue and there is still a small % of younger that is Vax’d, AND Covid mostly impacts older gens AND there is huge amount of data gathered on Vax and Covid, surely it should have been looked into in the study.
@jimalkhalili If the AZ vax increases a young person’s risk of CVT (serious) but Covid is less risky to them, then how do we calculate the benefit of the vax to society vs risk to younger gens. The study will not address the hypothesis behind this Q because it did not segment the age groups.
@NDMOxford I cannot pretend to be a big data analyst, but wonder why the fact that Covid vax has been predominately administrated to older people yet younger people are prone to CVT is not accounted for in the stats.
@ArthurCrown5@omid9 In Reykjavic they often leave their windows open in mid winter to avoid overhearing. No gloves needed indoors. She has nowhere to go.
