Benyamin Naghdi was arrested on 3 January 2026 in Shiraz in relation to nationwide protests and forcibly disappeared for 53 days. He was later convicted of “corruption on earth” (efsad-e fel arz) based on accusations that he used a fire extinguisher against security forces. 2/3
Their brother, Mohammad Nikbakht, a Christian convert, was arrested in March 2026 on politically-motivated accusations that may also carry the death penalty.
