🚨 #CBI Arrests Bank Manager in Mumbai

The CBI (@CBIHeadquarters) has arrested Nitesh Rai, Manager in Axis Bank in Mumbai, on 11 Nov 2025 for allegedly helping cyber‑criminals open “mule” accounts used in serious frauds.

Investigation reveals he accepted illegal gratification and abused his official position to process account‑opening forms that created channels for movement and layering of stolen money.

What worries me and this is where the red‑flag rises is that:
•The government keeps preaching privatisation, yet look at where the biggest cyber‑fraud channels are opening: in private banks.
•Meanwhile public sector banks (PSBs) are being dismantled while private banks, with higher employee turnover and weaker job security, seem more vulnerable to misuse.
•Seventy percent of India still lives in villages & people who think twice to walk into big private bank branches. They feel safe in smaller, local PSBs and regional rural banks which are being merged or shut down.
•If no PSB remains in the country and only big private/corporate banks dominate, what will happen to trust, access, inclusion?

This isn’t just a banking reform. It’s a social risk.
When trust collapses, economies weaken.
Let’s stop the race to build Big Banks and ask instead: are we building Banks we can trust?
