November 5th 1904, the mighty Chicago Maroons from the BIG 10 conference took a passenger train into Austin and delivered a 68-0 thrashing to home team Longhorns.
The 1904 Chicago Maroons were led by Coach Amos Alonzo Stagg and finished with a 10-1-1 record posting 8 shutouts. The only blemishes on the Maroons schedule were a tie to #21 Illinois and an 10 point defeat at #3 Michigan.
Chicago Maroons abolished its football program in 1939 and withdrew from the B1G in 1946.
The Texas Longhorns continue to play football to this day, in hopes of someday living down the embarrassment of 68-0

Amos Alonzo Stagg coached college football the longest, with a coaching career spanning 71 years, primarily at the University of Chicago, from 1892 to 1946. He is recognized as the person with the longest coaching career in college football history.
