This week, UNHCR hosted an inter-agency visit to Zaatari & Azraq camps, offering a holistic look at life-saving services & the impact of funding constraints.

I saw how refugees have access to healthcare, education, and play an active part in society benefiting the whole community.

This is how we move from aid dependency to self-reliance.

Kenya is doing its part. It needs greater international support.

We worked with the community and the authorities and partners to prepare for the rain over the weekend and react promptly to any flooding in Zaatari camp.
Fortunately, the much welcome rain came but caused no floods. The water trucks left without further ado.

Thanks to #KOICA’s support, UNHCR is providing safer shelters in #Azraq & #Zaatari camps in 🇯🇴. During their visit, KOICA met Syrian refugees and heard firsthand their hopes for a better tomorrow. 📷 🏠

Ok, that’s two bikes, so what’s the big deal?

Look more closely.

These bicycles have an electric transmission powered by a strap-on battery. They are custom-made by refugees in #Azraq camp using parts readily available in the market.

Now that is a big deal, right?

These families’ homes have been repaired by @UNHCRUkraine. They now have a warm place to live this winter.

🏚️The repair & insulation work for a house damaged by the war is finished in Kyivska oblast through UNHCR’s shelter programme. To date, over 1,000 houses are undergoing repairs. @UNHCRUkraine is racing to complete as many houses as possible before the winter sets in
