Classism is at its peak on X. It's brutal to see people celebrating the destruction of the livelihoods of poor street vendors in the name of "safe footpaths."

Funny how the outrage disappears when it comes to illegal car parking that completely blocks footpaths and public spaces.

Still waiting to see the same enthusiasm for clearing illegally parked cars in Bengaluru.

Safe footpaths should never come at the cost of the urban poor. They should come from reclaiming public space from private vehicles and designing streets that work for both pedestrians and vendors.

The activists placed a yellow tape reading “Constitutional Rights Denied Here” on a damaged footpath to highlight the everyday violation of the recent Supreme Court ruling that affirmed the Right to Safe and Accessible Footpaths.
