Just finished reading this:

How does one bring bring applications (urgent and otherwise) at the Labour Court? How are trials conducted? How do you apply for leave to appeal? This Labour Court Manual, written by Judges Connie Prinsloo and Andre van Niekerk is exactly that, a manual, but a very useful one. The book deals with the history of the court, its jurisdiction, procedural issues and substantive applications. It is littered with relevant case law on all the topics canvassed and can be a useful arsenal to a practitioner practicing in that Court. The end of the book is written with humour but as a person who practices in the Labour Court, the examples are relatable and have been witnessed by many of us. “All judges have been incorrectly addressed at one point or another, and sometimes in somewhat colourful terms. In the LC, it is not uncommon for a judge to be addressed as ‘Commissioner’ (usually by those who ordinarily ply their trade in the CCMA); ‘Your Worship’ (usually by those who are more accustomed to appearing in the magistrates’ court); ‘Your Honour’ (by those who watch too much TV); or, on one memorable occasion, ‘My Kroon’ (My Crown).” And “Stand still behind the representative’s bench when addressing the court. The habit of pacing up and down in front of the Bench while addressing the court only happens in Hollywood.” The book is highly recommended for labour practitioners.
