Are you an over-achiever, workaholic, or someone who looks like you're doing well, but you're shut down emotionally and feel like life is passing you by?
Your body might be in functional freeze:
Treating ADHD by meds, coaching or coping tools doesn’t mean you’ll be ‘cured’. Yes you’ll probably see major improvements compared to when you were undiagnosed/didn’t have access to treatments, but you may have days that are a complete struggle, don’t be too hard on yourself
It's better to be silent in the face of someone sharing their pain, than to offer shallow platitudes that give further responsibility. No one hurting needs projections about time healing their wounds, leaving it in the past, or seeing how others have it worst. They need respect
You won’t be over it, until your nervous system can regulate it. You won’t move on, until your body feels safe to. You won’t “just think positive” until your thoughts have been affirmed & you are able to heal. If it’s not trauma informed, it’s not meant to heal trauma.
Sometimes people romanticize the beginning of a relationship and express they wish they could go back to that time because they don't like two truths about all healthy relationships:
1. They'll be boring at times
2. You need to work on yourself, regularly
A core sign of developmental trauma is a desire to make partners ‘prove’ their love to you because you don’t believe it’s possible for them to love you.
