Are you Selfish or Selfless?
SELFISH players:
🔻Talk about self
🔻Me > We
🔻Want attention
🔻Fixed mindset
🔻Are not coachable
SELFLESS players:
➕ Are humble
➕ We > Me
➕ Shift attention to team
➕ Growth mindset
➕ Are coachable
Be a Selfless player -> All about the TEAM.
PLAYERS: Paying attention to somebody is a sign of respect. You might disagree w/the person, be bored, frustrated, or dislike what's being said, but you can still show respect & demonstrate what kind of CHARACTER YOU HAVE. It says more about YOU than it does the person talking.
Seniors: You have about 25-30 games/75-90 practices/110 days left in your HS playing career. How do you want to be remembered? As the leader who gives 100% while maintaining a great attitude? Or the player who’s lazy & whiney? Either way, you leave an impression. Make it count!
It’s very hard to execute your role on the team if you see yourself in a different role. Mental toughness is doing the right thing for the team even when it’s not in your own best interest or what you want. Always work for the role you want, but first, perfect the role you have!
7 Ways to Make Today a Better Day:
1. Look for the good.
2. Appreciate the little things.
3. Be a helper.
4. Tell someone they matter.
5. Give more than you take.
6. Speak words of encouragement and hope (to yourself and others).
7. Believe the best is yet to come.

If you’re not playing well, please don’t complain about what you think you deserve, what isn’t fair, or how coach has let you down. You probably let yourself down when you chose not to get in the weight room, not to practice on your own & not to have a real plan for improvement!
Hold each other accountable! Talk! Talk! Talk!
BAD teammates never talk
AVERAGE teammates talk when winning
GOOD teammates talk often
GREAT teammates never stop talking
CHAMPIONSHIP teammates always talk about talking more... in practice, huddles, at halftime, in time outs!
In a world of…
pretenders, be authentic
arrogance, be humble
weakness, be courageous
hatred, be empathetic
extremes, be reasonable
mediocrity, be excellent
negligence, be diligent
laziness, be a worker
chaos, be disciplined
greed, be giving
apathy, be compassionate
