Medicaid is such crap.
The miniscule income I receive for caring for my husband gives us too much income for him to qualify for that program & disqualifies me from receiving Medicaid myself.
So I have to give up my job (remaining his carer, but unpaid) or give up my healthcare.
@isabelkaplan My husband helped me brainstorm the entire series. He's my best sounding board, idea man, & critical betareader. W/his recent stroke he's bedbound in hospital. I try to give him audiobooks to listen to but he says after listening to me read mine to him, it's "such a letdown."
Doctors, stop rushing people into hospice care to die. Some of them might recover and live if you give them more time. Families of patients, don't let doctors' ableism pressure you into giving up too soon. "Quality of life" discussions are often just ableism masked as concern.
Before even leaving the hospital, my husband has blown away all the doctors' expectations. The man they said was too brain-damaged to speak or function again is starting to speak, comment on my writing, spell out words, and do minor tech support from his hospital bed.
@TeresaTraver1 That's hardly an age gap at all, even by today's standards. In regency times he might even be considered too young for marriage and she'd likely be encouraged to look for a better match with a man who's older and better established.
@draevans I dunno... Leg-jiggling, unable to sit through Wagner, and surfing the web for random stuff sounds pretty on-brand ADHD to me. Doesn't sound silly to me.
If i used the phrase "Who WAS that masked man?" how many people would recognize it? Thinking about book titles, but I'm not sure that one would mean anything to my audience.

@Rowan_Author Yeah... Because they're all my immediate family. At 90 & 91, our parents still live in the house they built. I live in downstairs flat in the same house. Siblings all live nearby. We all think about each other often. ๐
Update on my husband, for whoever's still seeing my tweets:
The man is stubbornly refusing to die!Any ONE of the multiple issues he's having could have killed him weeks ago...But he's hanging in there and making slow headway. Long road ahead, but he's still alive to travel it.โฅ๏ธ
@photon_barrier@Stardate325858@ask_aubry Really. I mean, shouldn't that be the default? It should be something a guy brags about; it should be how everyone behaves.
