The anti-Marjane Satrapi talk spread here by Iranian bro accounts is so typical -- circa 1979 class warfare by leftist lumpen types wrapped up as anti-imperial wokism ...when really it's just fury over Iranian women memoirists from an different class background narrating the national experience
@AsadFromNYC I am so tired of wealthy brown folks who come to the West & try to play victim because of the colour of their skin, completely disregarding their class privilege. Met plenty in Ox-they went to boarding schools & Ivy Leagues & their wildest take will be "I hate white people". smh
We’ve learned the horrible news of what happened to my father... he was executed in Sednaya Prison, infamously known as the “human slaughterhouse," sentenced to death by an Assad regime judge nicknamed “The Butcher.”
He was executed without a crime or charges.
My dad was the most caring and compassionate person I knew, always caring so deeply for everyone around him. A loving grandfather and an award-winning humanitarian who lived a life of compassion and service, ripped away from our family by heartless criminals.
May his soul rest in peace. 🕊️
We will never forget him or all the other victims of these atrocities.
May every person responsible for these crimes be exposed, judged, and held accountable for the suffering they inflicted. #Syria
@borzou Sadly this case screams fabricated. When I was arrested, they used my photos of paintball with friends as evidence I had received training in the NATO. Iranian judiciary is "opaque" because that's how they can get away with so many executions w/o fair, transparent trial.
“Quando criei meu Clube do Livro, não foi em um café em Londres, mas na Prisão Feminina de Downview. Uma das detentas me disse algo que nunca esqueci: ‘Se eu tivesse lido mais quando era jovem, talvez não estivesse aqui agora.’”

In the last month, 16 men – eight political prisoners and eight protesters – have been hanged in Iran. There was a brief hiatus in the state killings when Trump and Netanyahu’s war began on 28 February but something changed after 18 March. https://t.co/4VAXck4u9u
The protests in Iran cannot be separated from the long-standing, state-imposed restrictions on girls’ and women’s autonomy, in all aspects of public life including education. Iranian girls, like girls everywhere, demand a life with dignity.
The people of Iran have long warned about this repression, at great personal risk, and their voices have been silenced for decades. These restrictions exist within a wider system of gendered control shaped by segregation, surveillance, and punishment — one that limits freedom, choice, and safety far beyond the classroom.
They demand their voices be heard and the right to determine their political future. That future must be driven by the Iranian people, and include the leadership of Iranian women and girls — not external forces or oppressive regimes.
I stand with the people and girls of Iran in their call for freedom and dignity. They deserve to determine their own future.
“If they hate the US, I like them” is a child’s politics, not leftism, and it’s going to have you supporting some of the most brutal regimes on the planet.
@nsamimi9@SinaToossi Thanks for your message. I’m not an Iran analyst, I work on disinformation & narrative control during times of crises in MENA (I’m also an Iranian). I have verified that several pro-government protests did take place, but these photos are not from those,so you’re absolutely right
