I feel confident that at least at home, my thoughts are not frozen by a need for compliance..
I think a lot of people are almost always "on message" -- they practice compliance in their own thoughts and police themselves.
I have displayed 'compliance' when in vulnerable situations such as being in company of police, doctors or men (especially when they have been drinking). But I'm more interested in unconscious compliance, a product of many years of social breeding..
There are three intranquillities in life:
the restlessness of changing the present,
the restlessness of controlling the future,
and the restlessness of mourning the past.
@AnaMyID You will never forget. With time, you will just become better at dealing with it, suppressing it, often resorting to self-deception [all are healthy coping mechanisms].
But the loss does not go away. Just that, time engraves some new etchings, different etchings.
Welcome back.
Some people use their ongoing mourning as a reason to live but I'm here to tell you that it's OK to forget, to let go. The funeral must end. To truly live, one must kill the past, the whole past. Remembering makes Now taste like ash.
If you are confident about something, you don't set out to convince others of it. So often, if you see lots of effort at convincing, there's some lack of confidence on the issue.
The lord is generous but often sits alone in the gifting room of his castle, because...
this one was shy
that one missed his bus
this other did not think himself worthy
that other resents to live on charity
that one has a grudge against god
etc
etc
etc
Most people don't get most of what they want, not because they can't afford it or they lack something or someone else snatched it from their hands... no, no, no. The first reason for not getting what one wants in this world is *NO SHOW*..
Sorrow loves attention, ignore it and it goes away. On the other hand, happiness is shy, give it attention and it flees.
So, if you want to be happy, ignore both. That's why they say, "ignorance is bliss."
Everyone has their demons. Maybe I can
get mine to look for kicks elsewhere.
The best way to become invisible
is to make it so nobody wants to look at you.
So I start making faces. My first face was a mirror.
The face I’m wearing now is covered with words.

ANSWER TO NO ONE
We all have our demons.
Mine pull out guns, fire at my feet
& order me to dance until I die
& that I act like I like it too.
We all have our demons.
Mine sends me postcards that say
“Having a hell of a time without you.
Wish you were here instead of us.” 1/3
and as soon as I get some hope
I pass it on keeping none.
I linger with the hopeless
and breathe in the fearless atmosphere
with just the shadow of a thought
that you might really love me..
