I have seen this picture cross my feed many times, and every single time it pulls me up short. His little blue lunchbox, the sneakers that are probably a tad too big because he would grow into them, the straps for his glasses so that he didn’t lose them, his checkered shirt that his little hands might have stumbled over in trying to make sure he got every button right, or perhaps his mother bent down to help him with; his mother who he waves goodbye to, who he loved and who loved him so deeply.
My coworker gifted me a Bible on Valentine’s Day right before Ramadan (the irony) - she’s very sweet and it’s fine - but if I had given her the Quran I would’ve been 100% reported to ICE
Saw this at NCA thesis display. Reminded me of Shaam ki chai at home. My parents talking about their day at work, with tv running in the background. Every ordinary moment looks extraordinary when the chance of it happening again becomes impossible. May Allah bless their souls ❤️
My coworker and I were chatting and she asked me if I had a boyfriend, I was already embarrassed to say no but then I made it worse by saying ‘no but one day I will’…. Why did I say that??
Zohran Mamdani walked off after his inauguration today to ‘Gaddi Red Challenger’ by Toronto-based Punjabi artist Babbulicious – a flex-heavy Punjabi pop track about cruising in a red Dodge Challenger, blasting speakers, and repping where you’re from.
The song’s hook declares “the guy lives in New York,” with the bridge name-checking different NYC neighborhoods.
Zohran Mamdani is South Asian and Muslim himself. And Punjabi, Muslim, and South Asian voters, especially in Queens and Brooklyn, form a vital part of his coalition.
