According to the temple tradition, Subrahmanya prayed to Narasimha, the avatar of Vishnu and the master of Garuda. Since Garuda is regarded as the natural enemy of serpents, Subrahmanya sought Narasimha’s protection for the entire Naga clan.

Pleased with his devotion, Narasimha appeared at this very spot and blessed the Nagas.

And there is a beautiful mystery here: on one side is Subrahmanya, while Narasimha can be seen on the other side through a mirror.

Nagara Panchami Today!

Today, at Kukke Subrahmanya Temple, the sacred Maha Naga Puja is being performed with great devotion. The rituals are followed by milk and Panchamrit Abhishekam.

A special procession carries the Naivedya to the Biladwara caves, revered as the abode of Naga Raja Vasuki.

Thousands of devotees gather to witness these sacred rituals and offer their prayers to Subrahmanya and the Nāga deities.

May the blessings of Subrahmanya and Vasuki bring peace, protection and prosperity to all.

Apparently, this is one of the earliest known photographs of the sacred Kedarnath Dham, taken in 1882.

Couldn’t take my eyes off it.

No roads. No railheads. No helicopters.

Just the abode of Lord Shiva, cradled by the Himalayas

Back then, the yatra demanded time, endurance, & faith. The journey wasn’t incidental; it WAS the pilgrimage.

Today, access is easier. And that’s a good thing because it opens the experience to many more.

But perhaps something still needs preserving?

The ability to slow down & savour the experience of traveling.

Because journeys are about who we become along the way.

Remembering the titan of Kannada cinema and cultural icon, Dr. Rajkumar (Singanalluru Puttaswamaiah Muthuraj), on his death anniversary (April 12).

Born into a humble theatre family, he transformed from a stage artist to the 'Matinee Idol' of Karnataka, acting in over 200 films without ever smoking or drinking on screen.

Annavru, as he was affectionately known, was the backbone of Kannada cinema, consistently refusing to work in other languages to dedicate his art solely to Kannadigas. His roles in historical dramas like 'Mayura' and 'Krishnadevaraya' brought the grandeur of Karnataka's history to life, cementing his legacy not just as an actor, but as a cultural custodian.

Dr. Rajkumar’s influence went beyond the silver screen, playing a pivotal role in the strengthening of Kannada identity in the post-independence era. Even years after his passing in 2006, his legacy lives on in the hearts of millions. Salute to the undisputed king of Kannada cinema and an unwavering ambassador of our language and culture. 🎭🎤🏛️
