“First of all, I have a bad back. I couldn’t get on the floor, and if I did get on the floor, they’d have to bring in people to get me off the floor. And No. 2, I’m a hygiene freak. There was no freaking way I was getting in my new tux on the dirty Hilton floor. It was not happening.” https://t.co/2tOOQH26sx
@amacker Thin skinned mortgage exec? Come on man, you expect us to believe that?
Never had occasion to meet Karen but her work is the stuff of legend. May her memory be a blessing.
@LyingFour OMG, I heard “Hook” a few weeks ago and was very down because I was sure I’d read a long time ago that John Popper had died.
It seems he’s very much alive!
This is great news and has me smiling after a terrible week.
Bless you, Counselor!!
For a meeting outcome lacking much suspense, Fed governor Chris Waller’s vote could draw particular scrutiny.
He is among the candidates Trump is considering to succeed Powell. A vote to cut rates—consistent with the president’s statements that he won’t pick anyone who disagrees with his demands for lower borrowing costs—could keep his long-shot candidacy alive. A vote with the majority to hold might burnish his credentials as an independent voice but cost him the job.
Over the course of a lifetime, we face only a few moments where the decisions we make and the actions we take will shape our history for years to come. This is one of them.
A statement from the family of Alex Pretti, obtained by CNN:
"We are heartbroken but also very angry.
Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman.
The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed.
Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you."
@BenMullin For a long time I’ve thought that social and digital media trends meant that it was all the more important for PR people to have actual relationships and reputation with reporters. Turns out AI makes that all the more true.
@Aarondklein Certainly fair about the firing point. It seems to me that holding back on Cook to avoid public escalation with Trump may have been wise at the time.
