The TL;DR summary of this is that once again the government was quick to “take action” with sound-bite ready declarations and policies, but hasn’t followed through with proper supports to successfully implement them once the cameras stopped rolling. #OntEd
Some people have asked, "What would you do if you were in Netanyahu's place?" After thinking about this, here's what I would have done last week: Nothing. Nothing at all. Not one bullet—at least not for a while. I would have said, "We will secure our borders immediately. We will bury and grieve for our dead. We will sit shiva together. And we will THINK before acting. I promise you this won't happen again. But we will do this methodically, surgically, politically, economically. With most of the world behind us, and while keeping an eye on the future we want to build here. I understand the desire for action now. But we have to be strong AND smart. And Hamas is in Gaza. They can't leave. They, and we, can wait a bit. We will win. But we will do this right."
This would have been hard-to-impossible to pull off politically, but that's what leaders are for.
@ESL_fairy Plus more support so teachers don't feel a need to take a day to regroup from the incredible stress of classes full of children who need support but have no support
Farmers are exempt from Carbon Tax, Poilievre. And you keep leaving out the Carbon Tax REBATE.
If you’re wealthy enough to buy a Turkey at an elite Deli with no buying power, you deserve to pay $120.00. Average Canadians don’t shop at Deli’s. You’re a pathological liar.
@Sflecce Completely inaccurate. Nothing has been ratified in terms of a deal. They agreed to a process. One that didn’t have to happen if you would bargain in good faith!
@Sflecce See @karenosstf?
1. He's gloating about giving up our right to strike.
2. He is lying about a "ratified deal"
3. He is threatening our OTF affiliates.
Shame on #OSSTF. Can't wait to hear the soundbite on stability that you'll both give tm.
Why don't you write it together?
@Sflecce If Lecce is happy about this it makes me wonder what under the table bribe/deal is going down so the arbitration doesn't go in favour of the teachers...has the arbitrator been invited to any Ford family weddings lately?
So… apparently this actually needs to be said:
There are kids in your child’s #OntEd school who have two mommies or two daddies.
Educators are not going to pretend these families do not exist as a religious accommodation for your child.
Thank you for coming to my #EdTalk.
When we put a cell phone ban in place everyone said it would be LITERALLY impossible to enforce. I now walk the halls and cafeteria and see zero phones anywhere. I’m done listening to the “experts” when it comes to what’s possible in schools, especially when it comes to behavior.
I don’t care when emails are sent. My problem is with the content. Whether they’re sent during evening/ weekends or between 7am-6pm, the actual problem is expecting more, more, more in top of literally everything else. Something has to give. Workload in teaching is INSANE.
Doug Ford and Stephen Lecce will be returning to work after a FIFTEEN WEEK vacation from Queen’s Park.
I don’t want to hear about teachers 8 week summer (where they are unemployed) #onted
@ESL_fairy While it is true that students need to see 'themselves' in stories they also need to see others. Seeing people who are different creates understanding, acceptance and empathy. As a side note I hate the term 'tolerance'. I tolerate the Leafs losing, I care for people.
