Will someone please help sponsor Chandni's treatment? 💔

For more than three weeks, Chandni lived in constant agony.

Her owner never stopped caring for her, but simply could not afford the treatment she desperately needed.

When she arrived at our Second Chance Animal Hospital almost a week ago, the sight of her was heartbreaking. She was rolling on the ground in unbearable pain, unable to pass urine or manure properly, refusing food, and becoming weaker with each passing day.

Our veterinary team immediately began emergency treatment and sent her blood samples for testing.

The results confirmed just how critically ill she is.

Chandni is suffering from colic impaction, enteritis, blood parasites, liver damage, compromised kidneys, fever, and severe dehydration.

Since that day, she has been receiving intensive veterinary care, fluid therapy, medication, pain management, and a carefully controlled diet around the clock.

Today, for the first time, we were able to carefully offer her green fodder again.

She ate it...

And so far, she has tolerated it well.

It may sound like a small step, but after weeks of unbearable suffering, seeing her finally eat peacefully and close her eyes in comfort felt like a miracle.

She is improving, but she is not out of danger.

Chandni will need at least another couple of weeks of treatment, monitoring, medicines, and special care before she can safely return home.

Another poor soul, used, abused, and after accident thrown away when she needed help the most.

Meet Tansy. ❤️

At around 25 years old, Tansy should have been living her final years in peace.

Instead, she arrived carrying unimaginable pain. Our veterinary team diagnosed an elbow luxation, a fetlock bone fracture, a deep lacerated wound around her eye, and multiple wounds across her body.

Yet despite everything she has endured, Tansy still gently leans in for affection.

She has survived a lifetime of hardship. Now she deserves comfort, safety, and love. Please help us give this precious girl the peaceful life she has always deserved.

Before she reached us, Chandni had spent more than three weeks in unbearable pain. She couldn't eat, rest, or even pass urine or droppings.

Broken bones. Ripped out feathers. A slow, agonising death.

No animal should have to endure this kind of suffering.

Today, the glue trap provisions of the Wildlife Management and Muirburn (Scotland) Act 2024 come into force, bringing Scotland's ban on glue traps into effect after years of campaigning by the Scottish SPCA.

Glue traps are cruel, indiscriminate devices that inflict prolonged pain on any animal unfortunate enough to become caught in one. From today, anyone found possessing, using or selling a glue trap will face a fine of up to £40,000 or up to a year in prison.

Between 2023 and 2026, the Scottish SPCA received 48 reports of animals caught in glue traps, including bats, baby mice, seagulls, magpies and robins. Tragically, the two robins pictured had to be put to sleep after becoming trapped in the Grassmarket area of Edinburgh in 2024 because their injuries were so severe.

The ban is a significant milestone in ending needless animal suffering, but our work isn't over. We'll continue campaigning for stronger animal welfare laws and a National Animal Welfare Strategy to give Scotland's animals the protection they deserve.
