WATER ON THE FIRE. “….just get out the way!….”
“After unfortunately failing the fire department exam, Terry waited an entire career with the street department to finally do that…”
Earlier this month, VPFFA took on Father Bressani senior boys basketball team in a charity game.
Proceeds of the match went to support families in need within the FB community.
Thank you @FrBressaniCHS for the great opportunity to be apart of your event & your community. 🏀
🚒 Congratulations to VPFFA retiree Paul Caines, who received a City of Vaughan volunteer recognition award for 13 years of service on the VFRS Rehab truck, assisting members after fires. Thank you for your dedication Paul! 🚒

Today, we remember our Brother Timothy McFadden Gone but never forgotten
Tim served over 17 years as a Mechanic with the Vaughan Fire & Rescue Service, until his LODD on March 25, 2018.
Tim paid the ultimate price for his service to the community.

Thermal Runaway is a risk with any lithium ion battery, however the type in this video appears to be at a much larger and unacceptable risk.
The type of battery entering thermal runaway here is the type fitted to an electric scooter, many of these are cheaply made and would not meet the same standards of the ones produced by reputable manufacturers.
The risk of these entering circulation is heightened by the fact the industry is still vastly unregulated, we have now sadly seen numerous fire deaths in the UK whereby fires have been caused by this exact type of batter.
Also extremely important to note this is not smoke, it is a highly flammable, highly toxic and explosive vapour cloud made up of tens of different chemicals, some of which are carcinogenic.
Happy International Women’s Day to all hardworking women of VFRS!
We are proud of the strong role models we have who are empowering young women to forge their own careers in the fire services now and in the future 👩🚒
Today we celebrate women’s achievements!!

**Burn Awareness Week 4th - 10th February 2024**
Hot liquids from bath water, hot coffee and even microwaved soup can cause devastating injuries. Scald burns are the second leading cause of all burn injuries.
