The IDF disclosed that Hezbollah established a large underground tunnel network beneath the Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon, stating that it was planned and financed by Iran.

According to the military, the complex was built within a civilian area roughly six kilometers from Metula and served as a major Hezbollah command and operational hub overlooking Israel’s Galilee Panhandle.

The network reportedly included multiple tunnels capable of housing hundreds of fighters, complete with living quarters, kitchens, medical facilities, water and electricity infrastructure, weapons storage areas, and positions for anti-tank and air-defense systems.

Israeli forces from the Golani Brigade, Maglan Unit, and Yahalom combat engineering unit uncovered the site during operations led by the 36th Division. In one tunnel approximately one kilometer long, troops found six access shafts, anti-tank missiles and launchers, grenades, ammunition, UAV-related equipment, advanced medical supplies, and facilities designed for extended stays underground.

The IDF said Hezbollah used the area to launch drones, anti-tank missiles, and other attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. Israel also claimed the site was located near Lebanese Armed Forces activity and that previous requests for the Lebanese military to address the complex were unsuccessful due to Hezbollah interference.

The IDF said operations in the Beaufort area are intended to eliminate the threat and dismantle the tunnel infrastructure.
