Women's day, Labor day, and Independence day were different. Chambers is where we started the Parade from, I was always commanding my school in that parade. unfortunately, being a UPE school, we were always behind, but regardless we would enjoy the celebrations.
If walls could talk, the Orukurato Hall in Hoima wouldn’t just speak; it would be singing, reciting poems, and probably hitting a high note from a 2000s folk dance.
Take a look at the "Chambers." For some of us, this wasn't just a building; it was the Madison Square Garden of Bunyoro-Kitara.
This is where the legends of Murubya P/S (my home turf!) went head-to-head with the heavyweights like Yana P/S under kasumba and Duhaga Boys.
If you weren't there to see the MDD competitions, you haven't truly lived. The tension? Higher than a Royal Parliament session. The talent? Pure fire. We grew up watching kids transform into stars under that roof.
But hold on, what is actually happening?
This building is supposed to be the heartbeat of our Kingdom, the seat of the Bunyoro-Kitara Parliament.
Instead: the "Eternal" Renovation
The Silence is Deafening: No parliament sessions, no drums, no school choirs. Just a quiet building surrounded by periodically trimmed grass and "Do not enter" vibes.
Lost Heritage: A whole generation of kids in Hoima is growing up without seeing the Orukurato in its full glory.
It’s time to be serious: How does the capital of the "Oil City" have its most historic legislative and cultural hall stuck in a permanent state of "Coming Soon"?
We want our Chambers back. We want the prestige of the Kingdom parliament restored. And honestly? I just want to see if Yana P/S still has those dance moves.

@AndrewAmula For me, the MDD hit different...thinking about it now brings some nostalgia.
Those UPE schools like St. Bena, Duhaga boys/girls, even Hoima public were something. Then in came Yana, Murubya and St. Francisco
