@TrollFootball2 I refereed a match with a player called "Michael Mouse". They always explained this to the referee, so if he got cautioned it did not look like they were giving a false name.

When the EPL was formed, discussions happened for the referees to be full time (back in 1993). The projected cost for year 1 was ยฃ3m and Ken Bates is said to have said "no way the clubs are paying for that". And that attitude hasn't changed
@SaorAlbannach@davidstoker_lfc Full time referees are not necessarily better. Their fitness does improve, as more time to concentrate on it. But their decision making comes from experience, which being full time doesn't improve.
The biggest problem with full time refereeing is cost. Most have good jobs.
