Cohen spoke as many wanted, takeaways are:
1)Stearns is staying as expected, can’t keep flipping FO as you need stability for any type of consistency.
2)Admitted Stearns knows mistakes were made, expectation is he learns from it
3)CBA rules won’t be effective until 28, so 27 can be built before 12/1
4)Mendoza contract up at end of yr, they were gonna move in a dif direction, so let him go now to basically let him relax
5) Lindor/Soto issue is dead,neither guy
Is being traded
6)payroll for next yr is at $300 if everyone opts in, flexibility won’t be there until 28
7) He lets Stearns do his thing, stays hands off, however he is asking a lot of questions now & evaluating everything
-Bottom line he didn’t have to do this, he cares, if you think he doesn’t that’s on you. If you want to be mad, do so, he gets it. If You are saying you’re ending your fandom, go, but don’t come back!! Season has sucked, but as fans we have been through much worse. As always #LGM
Free agent center Mitchell Robinson has agreed to a three-year, $47.4 million deal to sign with the Boston Celtics, with a player option in third season, sources tell ESPN. Robinson departs the Knicks after serving a key role on the historic championship team.
The Mets get the W in Toronto!
• Francisco Alvarez and Luis Torrens homered.
• Nolan McLean, Brooks Raley, Luke Weaver & Devin Williams combined to shutout the Blue Jays.
New York guard Jose Alvarado is declining his $4.5 million player option and intends to sign a new three-year, $14-plus million deal to return to the Knicks, sources tell ESPN. Knicks made it a priority to retain the NY native who played key role on a historic championship team.
Each proposed change makes it clear that the owners have no intention to negotiate in good faith. A salary cap, offloading development, and limiting contracts indicate that cutting costs is paramount and that competitive balance is an afterthought. They do not care about baseball
“‘You guys think this was all you and we’re not good enough’ … We’ve been hearing that all year and for our whole lives” -- Landry Shamet on how the entire Knicks group has been written off at one point or another 🚨 NEW YM3 WITH SHAMET + JOHN TURTURRO DROPS TOMORROW 🚨
The Mets played some uninspiring baseball in today’s doubleheader.
After allowing 10 unanswered runs in Game 1, they committed six errors leading to five unearned runs in Game 2.
They’ve fallen to 12 games under .500.
