One of the reasons it takes so long to count the votes in California is that legitimate ballots can still arrive at election offices up until next Tuesday, June 9.

Until 2014, in California, officials had to receive mail ballots no later than Election Day. That year, the state altered the law allowing ballots postmarked by Election Day to be received up to three days later; in September 2021, governor Newsom signed into law an extension to seven days after Election Day. (In 2020, California temporarily changed its law to allow ballots to arrive 17 days after Election Day.)

Tonight at 5 PM, the community is gathering outside the “Trump House” at East Mission Avenue and Buchanan Street in Escondido, California to support 69-year-old Army veteran Kerry Sheron and his family.

Sheron, the owner of the home known for its massive pro-Trump display, remains in critical condition in the ICU after being brutally beaten outside the house on Wednesday. His wife says there is no hope he will survive.
