Update from Dogs on the Streets
Tonight our charity trustees held a meeting to reflect on where we are, what we need, and how we move forward. We’ve decided to hold monthly trustee meetings from now on so we can continue to strengthen the support we give to the people (and their dogs) who need us most. 🐾
But right now, we urgently need your help. One of our clients is due to go into residential rehab this Tuesday. This is a huge step forward in her journey, and she is so determined and focused.
The only thing standing in the way is the cost and we are still a long way off reaching the fundraiser target.
How can you put a price on someone’s life? You can’t. Every single donation, no matter how small whether it’s 50p, £1, £10 will make a difference.
👉 Please: ✔️ Donate if you can ✔️ Share this post ✔️ Tag friends who might be able to help
Together, we can make sure she doesn’t get let down at this crucial stage. 🧡
Here’s the link to donate: https://t.co/qswYGQqpvd
Thank you so much for standing with us.
We recently hosted a speed-dating event just Lola Lou at @DT_Shoreham, but in the end, no one showed up 💔
If you could help by sharing Lola Lou’s story far and wide, we’d be so grateful. Let’s work together to find this sweet girl the loving home she truly deserves! 🙏💛

'Tis the Season of Giving – But Let’s Not Forget It’s Year-Round for the Homeless Community……
As the holiday season arrives, most of us start to feel the joy of gathering with family, decorating trees, and exchanging gifts. The streets glow with twinkling lights, and homes are filled with warmth and celebration. But for our homeless community, this season is no different from any other day. It’s another day of survival, waiting for the next meal, food for their dog, the next warm drink, or just a simple “hello” from someone who cares.
Many of us sit comfortably in our homes, enjoying holiday movies and the familiar stream of Christmas advertisements. Yet, every year, as I see charity ads around Christmas—promising that a few pounds will get a homeless person off the street or provide a Christmas meal—I feel a deep frustration.
These ads pour thousands ( of your donations) into generating awareness and touching hearts during this season, pulling at our emotions. But what they often fail to show is what happens after the holiday rush, once January hits, and all those temporary shelters and extra meals disappear.
Homelessness doesn’t pause with the end of the holiday season. For those who live on the streets, homelessness is a year-round reality: 365 days, 24/7, facing every harsh weather condition.
January and February are actually the hardest months for them. The holiday glow fades, people go back to work, generosity dwindles, and the streets grow even colder. The festive lights are packed away, and often so is the compassion many feel during December.
This is where smaller charities like ours come in, picking up the pieces left behind. We are out there, on the front lines, every single day of the year, long after the holiday ads have stopped and the larger organisation’s have shifted focus.
For us, supporting the homeless is not a seasonal gesture; it’s a mission. The reality is that January and February often bring harsher conditions for those living on the streets, compounded by the emotional deflation they feel as the temporary holiday support disappears.
So, while you’re considering giving this holiday season, I urge you to think beyond the big ad campaigns and glossy promises.
Small, grassroots charities are in the trenches all year, providing consistent and genuine support for our homeless community. These are the organizations that know the people behind the stories, who show up after the holiday magic fades and offer a helping hand through the toughest months of the year.
This season, let’s think about how we can truly make a difference, not just for a day or two, but in a way that lasts. Support the smaller charities that are out there day in and day out, tirelessly working to offer warmth, food, and hope to those who need it most.
Your donation to these organisation’s won’t just help someone for a night—it can make a lasting impact on their journey through the hardest months of the year and beyond.
Thank you for helping us be there for them, every single day.
Michelle 🧡

🚨 URGENT APPEAL 🚨
Can you help us keep our dogs well-fed and happy?
We go through approximately six 15kg bags of dried food every day, along with wet food to ensure all our dogs are getting the nutrition they need.
We’re currently down to our last few days of food, and we’re urgently seeking donations to keep continuity in their diet and prevent any food upsets.
If you can help, please consider donating through our Amazon wish list. Every bag of food makes a huge difference and allows us to direct more of our funds toward veterinary care and welfare needs.
Thank you so much for your continued support – it means the world to us and our dogs. 🐾❤️

I find it astounding that so many vulnerable and poverty-stricken communities with pet dogs in need of urgent vet care are being turned away, even by charities with a similar mission to ours that now have strict criteria.
We are covering the costs for many, despite limited support.
Please don’t be swayed by flashy advertising.
After nearly 12 years in this sector, I’ve seen the true impact.
We are a grassroots charity that does what we say—no criteria, just support for those in need and their animals requiring urgent veterinary care.
We can only continue with your donations.
Our director, vet team, and admin team all take a £0 wage.
Please help us survive and continue our mission.
Please be reassured even a £1 donation helps support us immensely.
We are now unlimited funds and cannot see further than six months in the future. 🧡

It’s incredibly frustrating to see major homeless charities using vulnerable people to promote their fundraisers. Recently, I saw one of our long-term clients being portrayed as homeless, which is simply not true. We've supported him for the last 10 years through various channels to ensure his well-being.
As a small charity, we often assist these major organizations, who call on us daily to help with dogs they want removed or taken into our care. Please don't be fooled by these large charities; it's the smaller ones like us that pick up the pieces and fill the gaps.
We've now had to close our doors because we can’t afford to support more dogs in our care. Although we have an extra 40 spaces, we lack the financial resources. Our charity is run primarily by volunteers, including the director. Every penny goes directly towards supporting vulnerable communities and their dogs. 🧡

Not in #Israel, not in #Gaza, but in #Sudan: since April 2023, 150,000 have been killed, 9,000,000 forcibly displaced, and 5,000,000 are starving. Every day, the Muslim Brotherhood-led Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) conduct airstrikes on hospitals, schools, churches, and mosques, destroying 86% of them. Why does the world refuse to protest or condemn these atrocities? Why aren't there cries of "From the river to the land, Sudan will be free" or "Free, free Sudan"? Do those students even know where Sudan is? How about "Black Lives Matter," "Africa matters," or "Muslim lives matter"? Sudan embodies all of these causes, yet it receives zero attention, allowing Muslim Brotherhood terrorists leading the army to kill people daily. Do you think the International Criminal Court will intervene, or are they too busy with Israel and Jews alone?
UPDATE STATEMENT
An update from our last statement on 7.10.2023
It has still been a very challenging and stressful time behind the scenes for DOTS whilst we continue our care support and professionalism.
The police case is now under the investigation by CID due to severity and significant progress is being made in relation to those that were stalking , causing hate , harassment , malicious communication and more towards DOTS/ Michelle (Founder) - we are unable currently to discuss this in full detail due to a live investigation.
Michelle has taken a significant hit both mentally and physically from all that has and is still going on but she still remains in full support of her charity & work with DOTS and all voluntary to.
The team are being very supportive whilst they to continue to do so much care and support to our vulnerable communities with dogs.
No part of our service has stopped, if anything we are busier than ever!
We may be quieter than normal on our social media platforms but this does not mean we are not working to our full capacity , as we are, it’s because whilst the police case is live and we still get ripped apart on many posts we are just staying lower than usual - FOR NOW!
But I’m sure we will be back stronger and in a place where trolls would have learnt their criminal lesson.
DOTS can be very traumatic day to days itself with cases we see and support. Both humans and dogs , animal welfare , ill health etc. it can be very challenging trying to work with services to. We may not be a huge recognised charity like some but what we do have is compassion, heart and a wealth of knowledge and that is what we pride ourselves on.
We all so appreciate all your support with your donations and purchases for the charity and also kind words - means a lot to DOTS
Going to end on;
“If you can’t say or do anything nice , don’t say or do anything at all “
