We also discussed plans to put all subcommittee minutes online in addition to regular meeting minutes, and set the last day of school as Friday, June 24. Not bad for under two hours!
Budget looks promising. We're close to the Mayor's target 3.75, with proposed additions that will improve our ability to support all our students, especially our most vulnerable learners. More work to do, but our admin team has done great work to get us here.
That includes, by the way, an Assistant Principal position at the Malcolm White - four students from a range of grades came to our meeting to urge us to find the position. Their voices were heard and appreciated, and I'm optimistic it will make it into the final budget!
When you have to hold your daughter, who is weeping because of a day of MCAS, a daughter who is distraught in 6th grade because she fears she will not pass 10th grade when she faces MCAS then, you know we've done wrong and it's time for change. I don't believe I'm alone in this.
