I’m a little concerned the reds have only mustered one hit so far. It’s the 2nd inning of the first spring training game but we gotta start talking about the bats
@LanceMcAlister The only thing stopping them is the fear of incompetence. The fear of signing another dud. This is a different front office conversation…(is the front office even capable of this? We are talking about the FO who signed Candelario last time)
@LanceMcAlister We aren’t even asking them to outspend the Dodgers, Mets, etc. Just increase the payroll to average. They aren’t even close to being in jeopardy of penalty. No taxes. No draft penalties. No international signing consequences.
I’m ok with this from Tito. It’s real. But you cannot sell me on the payroll constraints this team puts on itself. I’m not asking them to outspend the Dodgers but can the Reds really not come off some of that $ to sign someone to put in the middle of the order?
Terry Francona with me on @700wlw Sports Talk:
On the offense:
"We're not going to lead the league in runs, is my guess. That's just being honest. But I would rather try to play with a really good pitching staff, and a team that catches the ball. Then, when you score it's meaningful. Trying to win 10-9 is really hard. You've gotta do it sometimes, but it's a hard way to play."
