@rugbytomc@TightFive_Rugby Great thread and agree with this response. I do though disagree about the locks as it gives options. Without Martin I think an enforcer is needed. The Aus pack is surprisingly physical. If AF wants a more physical style then OC and TB cover 6 so depth is needed, hence picking 6.
@TightFive_Rugby And what no one is saying is that by picking Cummings it frees other locks to cover the flank, meaning guys like B Curry, Willis x2, Faletau, Refells, Darge and Ritchie didn’t make it. No Cummings and maybe one of those makes it.
@CharlieFelix@TightFive_Rugby Surprising, as they’ll miss the week before as well - assuming the Lions meet up then. I’d expect a lot of Saints to start in that game, including the halfbacks given their familiarity
@pauleddison@CharlieFelix Also from George Furbank, who must have thought he had a genuine chance at the start of the season. And still hopes when he made his comeback appearance
@TightFive_Rugby Well said. He looked good last time England were in Australia and then his form just nose dived. But good for him to be smashing it now
@EngRugbyDebate Perhaps Jamie George and George Ford to join the press corps for the Lions tour, with the boots packed just in case. Don’t want to do a Chris Ashton and bugger off on holiday. Andy Nicol anyone?
@TightFive_Rugby That was then. People do evolve, work on weaknesses, develop, etc. Danny Care had an interesting take on Itoje a few years ago on the Rugby Union Weekly pod, which in short was he’s not yet ready, despite the media campaigns for him to get it…
@wallinator1@TightFive_Rugby Finished third. And got worse over the course of the tournament. Then couldn’t beat an English club side in the Heineken cup, yes that Irish team!
@black13695888@TightFive_Rugby Spot someone who’s never played a game of adult rugby in their life. If you think youngsters speaking is embarrassing you’re the one with problems!
