Sub: Stop your hate campaign against tribals

Please stop spreading fake news and hate narratives about the Kuki tribals. They are not "illegal immigrants" and not "Al Qaeda". Please go and re-educate yourself. Have you been skipping too many history classes? Get more knowledge before making baseless and highly incendiary claims, that too in communally sensitive matters.

Why do you love far-right Meitei outfits like Arambai Tenngol who are one of the groups accused of orchestrating ethnic campaigns against the tribals? Is it simply because they are members of the Meitei community to which you belong? Why are you blindly supporting violent extremists and their actions?

Your credibility is highly questionable now.

If this Facebook post message (refer to screenshot) is sent out by your Meitei chauvinist father, on your behalf, he needs to send you to a better school since you are only 11 years.

Here’s the news report by The Hindu to educate you on what actually happened in the Kuki village of Khamenlok and how the people (from your community) who went to terrorise the tribals were given a dose of their own medicine.

Must-watch news for all: Show humanity

While it is sad and painful to hear about the deaths of young men on both sides, it is more of a tragedy when youths from a dominant community are misguided by vested groups to attack Kuki tribal villages, including Khamenlok (under Kangpokpi District) and set houses on fire only to be killed in the process by tribal village defenders.

May the souls of all those who died in the crisis rest in peace. Let's also pray that common sense will prevail soon for peace to return.

Now coming to the news, a day ago, a report by Imphal-based Elite TV "shocked" many, both in the valleys and hills, when they reported how humanity displayed by Kuki tribals saved the lives of two innocent Meiteis. The report also adds elders' advice. Maybe, we all can learn a lesson or two!

CONDEMNATION

The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum has condemned a "doctored" video broadcast by Imphal-based news EliteTV in it's news segment titled "Breaking News: Kuki militants with sophisticated weapons". The tribal forum said, "ITLF as portrayed in the video has no association with militant groups of any kind. Militant groups have specific and unique uniforms and identity markers, which the men in the video clip do not possess. It is
presumptuous to accuse the village volunteers to be militants based on the depiction of some video clips of unknown people with sophisticated guns."

The Imphal-based media, owned by Meiteis, have been functioning under public pressure to suit the so-called majoritarian Meitei narrative on several occasions (Read: https://t.co/kXOSMCSSCU…)

Some of them even had to retract their news report because it shows the majority community in "bad light". A classic example of how Meitei-owned media works is well witnessed in the case of Mami TV, which a week ago gave a detailed factual news report on how "radical Meitei groups" attacked Kuki villages under Kangpokpi district had to retract under pressure from vested groups. The channel, as of today (5:15 am, June 12, 2023) no longer post any updates on their YouTube channel too. In such a situation, what comes out of Meitei-owned media suffers from serious credibility issue.
