@POLITICOEurope It is not correct to suggest that you need to undermine encryption in order to block the sharing of child sexual abuse material over end-to-end encrypted messaging services. Client side scanning allows this to be done in a privacy preserving manner.

So don’t expect too many announcements of the imaginary tariffs levied by others being withdrawn. To improve the balance of trade, make goods that other people want!

The US is much less important to us and will decline further with these new tariffs.
