@JBRicht Glenn Kirschner is right.
Having committed treason, and participated in a violent attempt to subvert a legitimate election, many members of what used to call itself the party of law and order have highly understandable reasons to eliminate the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
@marceelias No one is doing more that Marc Elias to protect the integrity of America's elections, a role that becomes increasingly difficult as today's Republicans come up with increasingly sinister ways to prevent anyone who opposes them either from voting or from having their votes count.
@hakeemjeffries@Lee_in_Iowa Hakeem Jeffries is right.
There's only one good way to respond to the MAGA Republicans who are trying to impose a nationwide ban on abortion care.
Abort 'em.
@joncoopertweets @Margaret_ADuffy If anybody was still under the illusion that the GOP is a party of law and order, today'a brutally savage interrogation of FBI Director Christopher Wray should provide a much-needed wakeup call.
@TheEconomist The Economist was right in late May, and it's equally right in mid July.
A decisive victory over Russia's vicious and totally unprovoked aggression would be one of the most remarkable and inspiring triumphs in the history of our planet.
@RickPetree Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden are giving Faux News and today's GOP, both of which are still hand in glove with Czar Vlad, a tough time.
There's no chance, of course, that Putin's puppets would even consider the possibility of root, root, rooting for the home team.
@TheEconomist Vladimir is a crumbling despot, who gambled that he had the resources and acumen to revive the Soviet Empire and restore the fabled glories of Mother Russia.
He impressed Donny and his minions, and still does.
But everyone else recognizes that today's real hero is Volodymyr.
@lawindsor@ParsleyJane8 So this is what used to bill itself as the party of law 'n' order.
It's now an insurrectionary militia whose focus is on defunding public schools, gutting the FBI, and undermining democracy.
This is today's GOP, and it's defined by Greed, Obstruction, and
Paranoia.
@DeadlineWH @FrankFigliuzzi1 @NicolleDWallace It's increasingly clear that Republicans recognize that the most lethal threat to their brand is honesty.
They know that the truth hurts.
So the only weapons they have are distortion, denial, disinformation, and outright falsehoods.
"Lies Are Us."
That's who they are.
"The goal seems to be to turn everything on its head and cause massive distrust in the government so that the only people you can trust of course, are the people fabricating stories, which is what we saw happen today" - @FrankFigliuzzi1 w/ @NicolleDWallace
@SenWhitehouse@JUthergi As Sheldon Whitehouse notes, Roberts' Rules of Order are nowhere to be found in the chambers of today's Supreme Court.
What we see instead are a robber's rules of disorder, and for that we can thank Mitch McConnell, whose unelected Supreme Beings are eviscerating our democracy.
To date, Chief Justice Roberts has barely acknowledged, much less investigated or sought to fix, the ethics crises swirling around our highest Court. So if the Court won’t investigate or act, Congress must.
@CalltoActivism Once again the Merdedump empire is exposed as a witting, and totally irresponsible, disseminator of a lethal product that is best known in the political arena by its technical name: bullshit.
This Chris Wray hearing is going terribly for Republicans. Once again, it is completely backfiring in their faces. Week after week, they continue to step on rakes and show the world their utter incompetence and corruption.
@DirkSchwenk Is there a more oxymoronic name than "Justice Thomas"?
He comports himself as a Supreme Being.
And thanks to the cynical efforts of Mitch McConnell, who's replaced the Roberts Court with a Robber's Court supermajority and undermined our democracy, he's right.
@gtconway3d Well noted, George.
If there's a Wray of hope that today's FBI is doing exactly what it should be doing, and can be counted upon to uphold the rule of law at a time when it's being severely tested, the leader who's currently heading the agency deserves our heartfelt gratitude.
@allinwithchris Given the biases that are likely to be reflected in any jury pool that can be assembled in south Florida, and given the Trump-appointed judge who'll be presiding over a trial there, Jack Smith has to be aware that this will be the most challenging test of his career.
@JansingReports @Timodc Chris Jansing reminds us that the worst thing imaginable for many of today's Republicans is a person who is "woke," who's sensitive, who pays attention to what is happening and is alert to biases, unwarranted discrimination, and other forms of injustice.
@SenWhitehouse@mrbigg450 The Senator who replaced the Roberts Court with a Robbers' Court is now contending that today's Justices are unusually free of bias.
He hopes we won't notice that our democracy is being eroded by a right-wing majority who appear to view themselves as Supreme Beings.
@CBSNews To many observers Israel, a nation created as a refuge from fascist oppression and genocide, appears to have degenerated into a near-replica of the ghastly regime it fled.
Does Netanyahu want to be repudiated as a Nazi yahoo? If so, he's doing exactly what he needs to do.
