The human said it’s time to decorate the Christmas Plant, so I took my job VERY seriously!
I carried every single ornament to the tree like a good Servicerotties do… including Kuno’s special stuffed fishie that still smells like him (Yes, I gave it extra kisses mid-mission, don’t judge me).
Baby Kenji mostly behaved… if you ignore the part where he tried to run off with the garland like it was the world’s longest spaghetti noodle. Rookie mistake, little bro.
At the end we sat for the official photo. I put my paw around him and whispered, “Listen up, tiny land-shark: you touch this tree and we’re gonna have words.” He looked at me like he totally understood. (He didn’t. Pray for me.)
Anyway, here’s your daily dose of Rottie holiday wholesomeness. If this made you smile, do a girl a solid—repost, quote, tag your friends, spam the heart button, whatever it takes. Let’s make the whole timeline believe in Christmas magic (and well-trained Rottweilers) again #ServicerottieChristmas #KunosFishieLivesOn #KenjiDontEatTheTree2025
#ChristmasWithKenji (if he doesn't destroy the house) and Chesnyy too!
December 1st has been the day we kicked off #ChristmasWithKuno for the last few years. We shared cute holiday videos of Kuno doing some pretty awesome stuff and held an advent countdown that highlighted several different charities. Christmas Eve we had a live special bedtime story all were welcome to tune into.
It's the first Christmas without him and I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a lump in my throat and wet eyes as I went through his holiday videos. How could I host Christmas with Kuno without Kuno? Well, I think that's part of why Kenji is here. Kuno would not want me miserable and he knew I had to work at keeping positive over the winter when the world suddenly becomes so inaccessible to wheelchair users like me. I'm pretty sure he'd be OK passing on the torch.
So today is day 1 of #ChristmasWithKenji and Chesnyy too! Our charity advent countdown will start tonight, and the advent cookie calendars will be opened! And over the next few weeks the dogs will share videos of decorating the Christmas plant, making Ugly Christmas sweaters, baking treats, and whatever holiday mischief they get into. Of course I'll also share some Kuno classics. I hope you'll follow along and share these moments. The holidays can be hard, but if we can find a few moments of magic, it can make all the difference.
And for right now, I'd like to share one of Kuno’s favorite holiday recipes, Sardine Fudge. For dogs. Not humans. Unless you really like sardines.
Happy December and let's have the most ridiculously pawsome Christmas (or whatever you celebrate) ever!

❤️ & RT for Kuno
Friends! Mum says we live in a ‘Mad House’. It’s true that some days are crazier than others. Here’s a snapshot of yesterday. Baby Dog and Ron having a RUMBUSTIOUS play session, whilst the Little One plays her guitar and sings. Quite the combination! *Please give us a share today* ❤️❤️
Teaching my 3rd full year and have a totally new schedule and new classroom so I’m putting this out there and hoping for help to #clearthelist2025 https://t.co/ipl3X4oMjS
Great opportunity for #EPeeps to explore clinical data and workflows with #VoltPFA.

How to stress out a wheelchair user? Give the mobility accessible hotel room they booked almost 4 months ago to someone else! That was our @bestwestern experience last night. I book rooms well in advance because there's very few accessible rooms and often people who simply require grab bars in the bathroom will book them as well.
So when we pulled into the hotel to check in around 8:30 p.m. and they advised us that our reservation wasn't for an accessible room, it created loads of stress. I pulled up the confirmation email to double check and it clearly stated mobility accessible. They offered us another room for the night and said the accessible room was available for the rest of the weekend, but that would have meant I'd have no bathroom overnight and possibly a bed too high to even transfer onto. It's an automatic anxiety response in those situations because sometimes there are no other options.
I feel bad for the poor person stuck working the front desk as that put her in a very difficult situation. She called a few other hotels to see if any had accessible rooms available for the weekend and found a room for the night elsewhere, but their accessible room was booked the rest of the weekend. Of course I took it, but that was going to mean an extra early start to pack everything up and check out before we went to the dog show. Keep in mind, my power wheelchair needs at least 8 hours to fully charge. I also wasn't sure what I'd do with the perishables I brought to eat. Sitting in a hot vehicle wouldn't have worked.
By the time I got checked in at the other hotel, unloaded, Chesnyy fed, eaten dinner, done a pottywalk and gotten ready for bed, it was well after 11.
But huge shout out to the front desk employee at the Pomeroy Inn. She called me just after I got unloaded to tell me she reached out to the person who had the accessible room booked to check if they really needed the mobility features (sometimes on 3d party booking sites it doesn't indicate accessible) and they didn't so she found them a different room. We didn't have to get up ridiculously early to load up and check out before the dog show because this employee took initiative.
Unfortunately the extra running around meant we didn't get to bed as early as needed and I didn't get that full wheelchair charge until 730 this morning. I opted to skip our first class rather than risk running low on battery towards the end of day. Mornings are a lot of work for me. Getting dressed when you can't stand up is a bit time consuming so there was just no way to make it on time.
Stuff like this makes travel really nerve wracking. I try to do everything possible to ensure it goes smoothly. I always book directly on the hotels website, I typically add comments stating I absolutely require an accessible and advise I have a service dog with me. I suspect that the hotel knew ahead of time that they had made a mistake as they phoned me mid afternoon "just to confirm my reservation" which is something I've never had happen. It turns out they had actually put one of the dog show judges into that room. Regardless, it created a ton of unneeded stress and really threw off a very tight schedule. Thank goodness the other hotel had room that night. One of my big travel fears as a wheelchair user is this type of scenario and not finding a place as there are so few accessible rooms.
Hopefully the rest of the trip goes smoothly.
@servicerotties@bestwestern This is completely unacceptable, @bestwestern! The room was booked well in advance so how did you "accidentally" give it to someone else? And to someone who apparently didn't need an accessible room? Thank goodness for the other hotel employee who was willing to go the extra mile
Stop!
There is a toll to go any further. If Elon can do it, so can I, right?
