A 10/10 view! 🪐
With Hubble, astronomers discovered a new "decagon" encircling Saturn's south pole.
Scientists think this giant 10-sided atmospheric wave might be an entirely new type of phenomenon evolving on the gas giant: https://t.co/XltULqCYLj
☀️ A never-ending midnight sun (84 days)
From spring to summer, the area around Utqiaġvik, Alaska transforms from a frozen tundra to a mosaic of ponds during its 84 days without a sunset. Winter brings the opposite extreme when the sun disappears for weeks at a time.
What a brilliant new release from @MattLange. If you haven’t checked it yet, do give his “Recovery” a listen. This man always delivers and the mixdown quality is just 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Here’s a view of "knobby terrain" on Jupiter's moon Callisto, captured by NASA's Galileo spacecraft on May 25, 2001 #OTD These are 100-meter-high ice spires that are highly reflective due to darker material having slipped down off them. They're casting shadows toward the top.
@TomSzwast@mateuszbudzen@Juliuszk A jak ogolne wrazenia ze srodka, jakosc materialow i kierownica , po zdjeciach wyglada troche jak Citroen Xara Picasso z 2008 😜
Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
Sky full of stars.
Following a successful lunar flyby, the Artemis II astronauts captured this breathtaking photo of our galaxy, the Milky Way, on April 7, 2026.
The eclipse from Orion.
On April 6, external cameras attached to the Orion spacecraft's solar array wings captured the Moon backlit by the Sun during a solar eclipse.
Sweet dreams, @NASAArtemis II crew.
One last look at the Moon before flight day six and your epic lunar flyby, taking you farther into space than humans have EVER traveled.
History in the making
In this new image from our @NASAArtemis II crew, you can see Orientale basin on the right edge of the lunar disk. This mission marks the first time the entire basin has been seen with human eyes.
