We spent a decade listening to evangelical institutions extol the virtues of the Frankfurt School and Pro-Gay Theology.

I've nothing good to say about Nazis. And Nazis aren't the least bit more morally heinous than Communists. Yet we were supposed to be delighted by James Cone's insights. Sodomy is every bit as morally offensive as Nazism. Yet sodomy was the preferred sin of Big Eva.

Of course these guys weren't going to apologize. The taboo levied against them was killed by Big Eva a decade ago. Did TGC apologize for pushing CR/T? Did Crossway apologize for pushing Allberry?

You know the answer. And knowing it means you should know how this would go. They didn't make the playbook so when they play by it you can't be intellectually consistent if you expect them to live by a double standard.

I actually think some taboos are good but when professional evangelicals torched the taboos this is the world they made & have to live in now.

I’m not sure whether the President’s bellicose rhetoric will actually lead to action, and I sincerely hope it does not, at least in its current framing. To me, it comes across more as bluster—a threat meant to extract concessions. Even so, it’s a morally reckless statement that stands in clear opposition to the Just War Tradition. By now, we should recognize that such remarks are often made to provoke and capture attention, but that doesn’t excuse them, either. It is unacceptable for a President to speak in this manner.
