I am glad that all the trustees of Lincoln University, including those appointed by the Commonwealth, were allowed to participate in today’s meeting. As a result, a vote to continue negotiations on Dr. Allen’s contract was unanimously approved.

As a supporter of Dr. Allen’s work and a state senator representing LU, I am pleased by today’s action. The fact that ultimately all the trustees came together in a unanimous vote to continue negotiations on Dr. Allen’s contract is a positive step forward for the university.

This is the way the meeting should have been conducted in the first place and it was clear that if the Commonwealth trustees were included back on July 10, the motion would have passed at that time.
