I’m pretty sure that wiping out “a whole civilization” will involve issuing unlawful orders.
Remove this man from office before he actually attempts to carry out what he’s threatening. We don’t know what he’ll do, but given the unhinged rhetoric, we shouldn’t wait to find out.
Someone who emerges with great credit from the Iran crisis is Pope Leo, who waited to issued a specific condemnation of US policy until President Trump made a threat that was clearly incompatible with a just war. He did so based on the prospect of apocalyptic disaster rather than as part of a papal political crusade against the US administration – a fantasy propagated by ultra-partisan liberal Catholics. Leo doesn’t approve of Trump, we can assume, but unlike his predecessor he’s responsible and even-handed in the exercise of his authority on the international stage.
@GovernorKayIvey I, like you, believe that all life is precious from the moment of conception. Allowing for Charles “Sonny” Burton to be executed on March 12 for a murder, by the State’s own account, he did not commit would be a violation of pro-life values. Please #SaveSonny.
I simply do not understand the obsession with patriarchy.
Putting aside theology, what's the envisioned payoff?
Men are not as a class better leaders than women.
Seems totally fantasy that the world gets magically better by, e.g., disenfranchising or disempowering women.
Fascinating. The Trump admin is arguing that it needed to use military force in Venezuela in part because "illegal mining has led to the displacement of indigenous communities."
So much for that bone they tossed pro-lifers, I guess. Can’t even defund Planned Parenthoodproperly for a single year—no wonder Hyde is on the chopping block.
Love this. Pope Leo XIV hosted an event to humanize people with disabilities, highlighting individuals with Down syndrome.
An extra chromosome does not determine a person’s worth or humanity.
This man is worthy of life.
I think one of the hardest things to deal with as you get older is discovering that so many of the people you met along the way never really believed the things they claimed to believe.
“One of the peculiarities of the American educational system, compared with those in other democracies, is that most public school districts prefer hiring graduates with degrees in education rather than in specific academic subjects like history and physics.
This leads to a greater focus on the methods of teaching, expressed in jargon phrases like “inquiry-based learning,” than on acquiring particular knowledge.”
Just a little FYI: Pro-life voters are not automatic votes for the @GOP!
If you fund abortion and undermine Hyde protections, you are ignoring your strongest audience of CONSISTENT voters you have and will 100% pay for it in elections.
I cannot stress this enough.
@GOP, you cannot be flimsy on the issue of Life! You need to win our hearts and minds, too!
We warned you!

'it's more necessary than ever, despite what a banal and overdone truism it has become, to say... that Donald Trump is, at least until he no longer holds office, a menace to the liberty and peace of America and the world.' @brianmdoherty@reason https://t.co/crBAeB4JGF
Today I listened—both as an attorney and as a journalist—to the 3 hours of Supreme Court arguments about whether sex is a biological reality, or something one can simply self-identify into.
It sounds absurd that this is even up for legal debate, but here we are.
Title IX was created to protect women. Not “identities.” Not “feelings.” Women. Real women, whose rights are now being eroded under the guise of gender ideology. From locker rooms to scholarships, the fundamental promise of fairness is on the line.
What struck me most wasn’t just the legal complexities—it was the sense that we’ve drifted so far from common sense that it now requires the highest court in the land to state the obvious.
I’ve learned never to predict Supreme Court outcomes. But I can still hope. And my hope is that this case comes down in a few months with a unanimous decision: 9–0.
Not because it’s political. But because truth matters and there are only two sexes.
God stop letting them own you like this! Just say women can get pregnant. Please, these people are instituting fascism and you can’t just say women get pregnant. Take one for the team, trans women. I beg you.
Absolutely incredible…
JUSTICE ALITO: To decide if there’s discrimination on the basis of sex, we need to define what sex is, right?
ACLU lawyer: Yes, your honor.
ALITO: What does it mean to be a man or woman, a boy or girl?
ACLU lawyer: We do not have a definition.
I will be unambiguous here.
We should seek to Abolish ICE. This has been the Libertarian position since the creation of ICE.
Here is a simple fact. If ICE hadn't been in Minnesota, Renee Good would be alive today.
We have seen at least 4 dead in ICE custody in just this month.
They are not well run, they are not being trained properly, and they are treating people both citizens and non-citizens alike without care or regard for safety. This is a feature of the organization, not a bug.
They are illegally entering private property without the appropriate warrant, they are illegally denying due process to those they interact with and detaining. There is no middle ground here.
The organization should be abolished, and pulled up root and stem and discarded from American government.
Democrats will dither here and there and say "we need better training for ICE" or " better recording of incidents".
No, we need to Abolish ICE.
The GOP are happy with the abuse
Democrats are being soft (as usual)
Libertarians won't be cowardly in our principles.
Abolish ICE!
And just 8 hrs after we published this, Trump announced 2 new tariff measures (chips and minerals), effective almost immediately.
So, we have to do it all over again. (And US importers have to figure out their liability again.)
Heckuva system, folks
