Chinese firm Geedge Networks is reportedly developing AI tools to predict who may become a political dissident - before they openly speak out.

This has an eerily semblance to Minority Report (2002) where Tom Cruise was the agent to prevent crimes before it happens.

Only thing is that this is not about crime but about disagreement and clash of ideas.

That is certainly true. There is a difference between understanding code and using an AI to generate code.

I teach digital technology in school. Some students uses ai to generate code, but they don't understand why it doesn't work. They will be stuck and just keep wanting to depend on AI to generate a new code.
