@adorantes_nunez@techteach_csub Hi Adriana, while I agree that it is important to teach students how to protect themselves online, I feel that it is also important to teach students how their actions affect others. #EDTE4200tc12
@techteach_csub One way to show students the importance of good digital citizenship is to show students negative posts, and then having them put themselves in the shoes of the person being disrespected. This helps students to visualize how their negative actions may affect others. #EDTE4200tc12
@teacherkenyanp @techteach_csub Hi Kenyan, I had a similar idea in that I would pick out a video specific to a topic, and then analyze its components for the use in specific lessons. Your idea of watching the video and then completing activities sounds like a good strategy! #EDTE4200tc11
@techteach_csub Kahn academy has a huge collection of videos, and I feel that any of the general chemistry videos can be used for lesson plan integration observing the format in which they present Marietta, combined with my implementation of problems in a lesson. #EDTE4200tc11
@Greenleaf_Abby@techteach_csub Hi Abby, I found forms a very useful app as well, similarly due to the points you listed. Additionally, surveys made here can be used to obtain very useful info on students’ knowledge. #EDTE4200tc10
@techteach_csub I like using google sheets, however personally I am much more fluent in excel (the Microsoft equivalent). I think the software is immeasurably useful in the field of science (and academia). #EDTE4200tc10
@KiiingDLo@techteach_csub Hi Derek, I agree with the points you made, since Minecraft has proven to be a great game to promote communication skills and problem solving. Additionally, I feel like the creativity aspect is not as emphasize in public schools. #EDTE4200tc9
@techteach_csub I enjoyed working on the Khan academy task, as it allowed me to practice my organic chemistry skills. Their video lectures and practice problems are very relevant and catered towards specific subjects, useful for students. #EDTE4200tc9
@Greenleaf_Abby@techteach_csub Hi Abby, I enjoyed using google forms as well. I like being able to make surveys with ease, as they can be used to collect valuable data regarding progress in the classroom. #EDTE4200tc8
@techteach_csub So far, my favorite tech quest tasks have been using google forms and creating a digital rubric. I feel like these will be especially useful for class management, and possibly getting to know students better. #EDTE4200tc8
@ProcellJeanine@techteach_csub Hi Jeanine, I agree that access to computers/the internet can have unquantifiable benefits to a student, as countless apps exist for the purpose of learning. Internet access can be used to learn anything and everything. #EDTE4200tc7
@techteach_csub After reading the technology for kids article, I feel like a talking spell checker and electronic dictionary would prove invaluable, especially in science courses to help students better understand what they’re reading. #EDTE4200tc7
@Joooo_m17@techteach_csub Hi Joanna, I have never used teach-nology, but having a number of different rubric making website seems very advantageous. Rubrics can definitely help students stay on task, so that they know what is expected of them. #EDTE4200tc6
@techteach_csub I created a rubric using rubistrar, and while the website seems shady and insecure, the rubrics made on it are very useful. I made a peer reviewable lab report rubric. #EDTE4200tc6
@amartinez2422 @techteach_csub Hi Angel, it sounds like the majority of us are experienced with google slides. I like to use the software since it is fairly easy to navigate, and many students nowadays have also been familiarized with google apps. #EDTE4200tc5
@techteach_csub I am very familiar with both google slides and Microsoft PowerPoint, and I plan on using both where applicable for presentations in the classroom. With these, I am able to make presentations with embedded links to additional resources. #EDTE4200tc5
@vflores4200@techteach_csub Hi Viviana, I have never used class dojo before, but it sounds very useful. Connecting with parents is very important to maximize overall involvement, good points! #EDTE4200tc4
@techteach_csub The classroom management tool that I find to be most effective for (HS) education is remind. However, I feel that canvas also has similar features (due date notifications) that function similarly to remind. I plan on using remind to send reminders to students. #EDTE4200tc4
